"The McAllister Museum of Aviation is a wonderful hidden gem in Yakima. I was really impressed by how much history is packed into this place. The museum may look modest from the outside, but once you step in, you can tell it’s run with a lot of passion, knowledge, and local pride. The displays are full of fascinating aviation artifacts, detailed information, and great stories about pilots, aircraft, and Yakima’s aviation heritage.

The volunteers here deserve special mention—they are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and full of interesting facts. You can tell they truly care about aviation and the museum’s mission. They’re always happy to answer questions, explain the exhibits, or share the background behind certain aircraft and items. Their enthusiasm adds so much to the experience.

I also appreciated how well-organized the exhibits are. From vintage engines to historical documents, uniforms, models, and photographs, there’s something to catch your eye in every direction. Whether you’re an aviation fan or just someone curious about local history, this museum offers a lot to enjoy. And the admission price is very fair for everything you get to see.

Overall, I had a great time visiting and learned a lot. This museum is a great piece of Yakima culture, and I would definitely recommend stopping by. It’s a thoughtful, engaging place that keeps aviation history alive in a meaningful way."

"My wife and I were visiting grandkids and great grandsons. We went to the Museum of Aviation with a granddaughter and great grandson and we had such an amazing time. Our great grandson was so excited he got to fly a plane, simulator, he wants to be a pilot. Great place and extremely interesting for all."

"Amazing museum of aircraft and aviation on general. We loved the sections on local pilots and native Americans and their impact on aviation.

Shout-out to our guide Mr. Anderson; he really knew the history of all the exhibits and kept up with rapid fire questions from an excited 5 year old.

The guided tour didn't take too long and is chock-full of information over displays of hand painted miniature models, real pieces from crash sites, life sized engine models and some very neat looking smaller single person planes.

5/5 would recommend"
