Beat the Crowds at Natural Bridge Lake

While Natural Bridge Lake isn't as swamped as Yellowstone's main attractions, visiting during peak season means some crowds. Consider an early morning or late afternoon visit to enjoy the serene beauty of this natural arch formation with fewer people around. The trail is generally easy, making it accessible for most visitors.

Wildlife Awareness is Key

This area is known for wildlife sightings, including bears, elk, and mule deer. Always be wildlife aware and carry bear spray. While the main trail is easy, venturing off-path or climbing higher for closer views requires caution and preparedness for uneven terrain and potential animal encounters.

4 Day Itinerary that includes less touristy attractions?

I just decided to go to Yellowstone in late June, kind of a spur of the moment trip. I know that it’s peak season and crowds will be unavoidable. I’m just wondering if you could suggest some attractions/trails that are incredible but don’t pull an Old Faithful type of crowd.…

"The Natural Bridge in Yellowstone is a beautiful spot and well worth the short hike. The trail is easy and mostly flat, winding through peaceful forest before opening up to an impressive stone arch carved by water over time. The formation stands tall and feels like a hidden gem tucked away from the busier areas of the park."

Lisa Crocker

"If you are staying at the Bridge Bay Camp Ground don't miss this short easy walk to the Natural Bridge (3 miles round trip). You may stumble upon a bear, elk, or mule deer along this trail so be wildlife aware. But don't let this stop you from exploring this beautiful area."

Robert Hennessy

"Great hike while we were staying at Bridge Bay Campground. Didn't even have to drive to it, you can walk from Loop A. Easy trail to the bridge, you can walk or ride your bike. The formation is really neat and there is a side hike up the mountain to get closer to the bridge at the top. This hike is more difficult and narrow up the mountainside, but worth it if you chose to climb it. Really neat to be able to look through the bridge opening at the top!"
