The architecture, designed by Carlos Ott, is stunning, light, open, and modern, yet perfectly in tune with its natural surroundings. Walking through the galleries and the expansive sculpture park, it’s impossible not to feel the vision and dedication behind it all. The grounds are meticulously cared for, with major works carefully placed across rolling hills that invite you to linger and explore.
The permanent collection is exceptional, featuring some of the most important names in Latin American and international contemporary art, Wifredo Lam, Frank Stella, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Louise Nevelson, and Joaquín Torres García, just to name a few. The curation feels thoughtful and serious, without being intimidating.
I especially appreciated the warmth of the space, it’s a museum with soul. It respects the work, the viewer, and the landscape equally.
MACA is a cultural treasure and a must-visit for anyone who loves art. It was validating and deeply rewarding to experience a collection and a space that so clearly speaks to serious collectors, artists, and the community. I look forward to spending an entire summer in Uruguay and participating in its program and all the museum events."
