"Historically, the hill was known as the English Hill, a name it took from a British company that operated in the area around 1715. In 1919, a chapel was built on its summit with a statue of Saint Anthony inside. Since then it has been named after that saint. The original sculpture was the work of the French architect Pierre Guichot, but it was destroyed - for reasons unknown - and a replica brought from Europe was installed in its place in 1933.
