What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Museo Regional Carolino San Carlos for its free admission, beautiful colonial architecture, and diverse collection of historical artifacts. The staff is often commended for their warmth and effort. However, some feel the exhibit arrangement could be improved and that more detailed information on labels would enhance the visitor experience.
"It's a beautiful historic house with interesting artefacts exposition. A pity there have been reforms done without respecting style an historicity. Sometimes there are cultural events there like concerts or other presentations."
Maria Gabriela Salvarrey
"Very nice museum that is worth visiting. It has a great variety of objects, which I feel could be arranged in a way to better appreciate them. I am referring to the GREAT accumulation on the upper floor, where there are many tables or stained glass windows with objects without much space between them, as if with a lack of a natural flow, or a "narrative". It seems more like they organized them in a very correct way and with a lot of effort, yes, but it's like you see a lot of things together. I suppose it is partly because there are rooms that are used as a cultural or exhibition center. That said, there are plots on the walls with explanations of the exhibits.
I don't want it to sound like a complaint because I really liked the museum and the love and effort is evident (I have seen much worse and with fewer objects in Uruguay)"

"The museum is beautiful, definitely worth it, and it's free! It has super interesting artifacts, but lacks information about them. The labels are old and in most cases don't indicate the year or other valuable information that—in my opinion—would greatly enrich the experience. It would be nice if they created a museum cafe or modernized the museum to attract more tourists/visitors."
