This trail offers a rewarding hike with beautiful summit views and a lush rainforest section. While well-maintained, it's steep and rocky in parts, requiring good footwear and plenty of water. Be prepared for limited parking and potential spiderwebs in the denser areas.
"Well maintained trail. 3-4 parking spots at the trail head. Most of the trail is shaded, but hot. We went out and back to the top of Caneel Hill. Pretty much all up on the way there, all down on the way back. Bring plenty of water and bug spray. The view from the top is beautiful. Lots of hermit crabs on the trail"

"Very nice little hike. Steep and rocky at some points. Took us about 25-30 mins to the platform."

"Very steep from Cruz Bay to Caneel Hill. Moderate from Caneel Hill to Caneel Bay. The Caneel Bay portion is almost rainforesty. Watch for giant spider webs across the trail here. Path is uneven and often rocky and you will be concentrating on your footing, remember to look up often or you will find you have walked into the web, not fun, I have done it. When I lived in Cruz Bay and worked at Caneel I would run the trail 3 times a week, literally run. Took about 30 minutes and man did I have strong legs then!"
