Reviews Summary

Hassel Island offers a unique historical escape with tranquil anchorages and scenic beauty, though some visitors note a lack of maintenance. It's ideal for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience with rich historical ruins and peaceful waters, but requires self-sufficiency due to limited facilities.

"This truly is a place for someone to escape, we are Anchored here on our Catermeran with four other boats. There are no restaurants, buildings, roads or even people on this side of the island.

The boats at this anchorage roll a lot, have a good anchor and a lot of scope out. The wake of the Ferry's and ships leaving/ entering Crown Bay Port can, can be a relaxing rock to nearly throwing you off the boat, and your anchor free.

Hassel Island faces Water Island on the South West Side and opens Frenchmans Bay/ to the Sea, the other end a tiny channel (first picture with Rocks & Blue Building is the cut)you can enter by boat or dinghy Charolett Amellie, only this side of Hassel Island is visible by Charolett Amellie.

A lot of people confuse Hassel Island.

I was confused as people talk about Water Island and pointed at the small island that lies between Charlotte Amellie & Water Island - HASSEL until I came by boat I didn't know there were 2 islands.

Tours are available to visit the small island, under USVI tourism for more information."

"A DISGRACE to our National Park System. ZERO maintenance, homeless villages, overgrown, broken glass and trash everywhere. Could be SO amazing with its history, hikes, views and ruins. SAD!!

One trash barge, one weekend civic volunteer party cleanup, and charge the Cruzies $30/ head for a personal guided tour."
