Reception is small and right hand side of the entrance. Breakfast is from 7am buffet style."

"I stayed here 2 nights and will stay one more night upon my return.

I don't understand where all the negative reviews are coming from. The lobby is beautiful and the hotel has a functioning gym. Jahongir was great when he checked me in and my room had a good working newly installed A/C. In addition, the breakfast has a lot of variety"

"Iconic hotel at the centre of Tashkent city. As this is very old hotel from 1970's , don't expect to see modern rooms with all the modern facilities but still this hotel holds it's charms to attract people due to iconic design and historical value. This hotel is one of the most famous landmarks in the city. Breakfast really is good. Room AC was not functioning properly but we managed. Staffs are cooperative. Lobby area is very well designed and maintained. Without any doubt you can choose this hotel for your Tashkent stay."

The Architectural Significance of Hotel Uzbekistan

Hotel Uzbekistan is more than just a place to stay; it's a significant piece of Tashkent's architectural heritage. Built in the Soviet era, its design reflects the grand and often imposing style prevalent at the time. The building itself is considered a landmark, showcasing unique features that stand out in the modern cityscape. Visitors often remark on its distinctive facade and the sheer scale of its construction, making it a point of interest for those fascinated by Soviet-era urban planning and design. Reddit

Inside, the hotel continues this theme with a lobby that many describe as reminiscent of the 1990s or earlier. While some areas show signs of decay, others have been renovated, attempting to preserve the original spirit while offering some modern comforts. The architectural details, from the patterns on the walls to the layout of the spaces, offer a tangible connection to a bygone era. It's this blend of historical significance and retro charm that draws many travelers seeking an authentic experience. Reddit

For photographers and architecture enthusiasts, Hotel Uzbekistan presents a compelling subject. The interplay of light and shadow in the grand lobby, the geometric lines of the structure, and the preserved vintage elements all contribute to its visual appeal. It’s a place where the past is palpable, offering a unique backdrop that contrasts sharply with contemporary hotels. Reddit

Navigating Amenities and Comforts

When staying at Hotel Uzbekistan, it's important to have realistic expectations regarding amenities. While the hotel boasts a functioning gym and a 24-hour cafe, some essential services like hot water and air conditioning can be unreliable. Despite these potential drawbacks, many guests find the breakfast to be a highlight, offering a good variety of dishes in a buffet style. The staff are generally described as cooperative and professional, often doing their best to assist guests despite the hotel's limitations. Some rooms have undergone recent renovations, including new carpets, furniture, and bathrooms, which can lead to a more comfortable stay compared to un-refurbished areas. Reddit

For travelers seeking a truly Soviet experience, these quirks are often part of the charm. However, if modern comforts and consistent amenities are a priority, it's advisable to inquire about room condition and specific services before booking. Managing expectations and focusing on the hotel's unique historical and architectural value can lead to a more positive overall experience. Reddit
