"Beautiful cathedral from the late 17th century that still beats today in the center of Maracaibo, Zulia State"

"The Cathedral Church of San Pedro and San Pablo is the oldest building in Maracaibo and therefore the main church. Its construction dates back to 1618, as there are data recorded in the parish records that indicate that at that time the temple was already in operation. It was elevated to a Cathedral in July 1897 and over time it has undergone several modifications to its original structure. The floor plan is made up of three naves with masonry walls. The columns are made of wood with carved stone rods and the wooden roof covered with tiles. It has three naves, a roof covered in gabled tiles, friezed masonry walls and wooden columns, there are three chapels; The middle one is the presbytery, whose roof has an independent hipped pyramid shape. The main façade shows three doors with arches that lead to the internal naves, above them there are windows with arches, moldings and a large triangular pediment with a cross as its culmination. Aligned with this façade, to the left, stands the two-level bell tower; In the second there are clocks and culminates with a small turret with a dome. The side facades are provided with doors and windows with arches. Finally, the church has an iron grate that surrounds the cemetery located in its northern part. The interior of the Cathedral houses a valuable collection of movable property. This church, like everything it houses, was declared a National Historical Monument in Official Gazette decree No. 26,320 of August 2, 1960. Currently it is in good condition and is one of the most traditional religious temples in Maracaibo."
