What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Plaza José María Vargas is appreciated for its dual role as an educational space and a community hub. Visitors enjoy the peaceful green areas and the historical significance of the Dr. Pérez Clavier bust. It's also noted as a venue for lively local events.
"José María Vargas Plaza is an enclosed space located within the ULA School of Medicine. It offers green areas and benches for resting and reflecting. This space houses the bust of Dr. Rafael Pérez Clavier, installed in 1995. Made of bronze, it sits on a freestanding concrete base, not dominating the visual space. The figure was molded with a very well-achieved soft expression, including details of a smile, a nose, and a mentor that harmonizes with his cheeks, creating a sense of joy. This monument serves an educational purpose, establishing ties between different social sectors so that individuals may understand and appreciate the scientific personality of this figure. Dr. Rafael Pérez Clavier (1934-1993) was vice president of the XI Pan-American Congress of Anatomy and professor of Embryology at ULA."
