What's the deal with Banh My Mama in Hanoi?
Noticed this sight earlier this week. This small unassuming Banh Mi Stand next to the Cathedral, Banh My Mama, continuesly had a long line of (i assume) foreigners waiting 20+ minutes for a single Banh Mi. Baffling, because the neighbourhood is riddled with similar Banh Mi…

Some find the flavors good but not revolutionary, while others are thoroughly impressed.
"When I got here at 2PM there was a very long line of people. But I got my food after waiting 20 min so not so bad.
The Bahn mi was okay, didn't really blow me away. To me, it just tasted like a regular Bahn mi I had the other day. But they are more generous with the meat.
I also liked the fact that they didn't let people cut in line. They started taking our orders in advance and giving us a numbers. This one guy tried to take my order but the staff checked his number and told him to wait."

"Definitely another good spot for Banh mi. There is always a line here but the wait isn’t too long, just about 15-20 mins (some said can be 30 mins during peak hours) to get your food. They are pretty organized, collecting orders when you lined up and you get the queue card.
I love the baguette texture, crispy outside but still soft with lil chewy. I ordered #1 The meat wasn’t super special and wish I had little more sauce though. It’s only 35K vnd so very good value for money.
They have a few seats on the street where you can enjoy your order.
Overall love it."

"Always has a long queue, about 20mins ish.
It’s a good banh mi, pate is very light tasting. Some bad ones are bitter.
Decent amount of veggies.
Recommend is for no 1. Unless you’re white with issues trying legit stuff. 1 is the go to"
