What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently impressed by the sheer scale and grandeur of Bai Dinh Pagoda, with its numerous impressive pagodas and statues. While some note its modern construction, the intricate artistry and spiritual atmosphere are widely appreciated. The electric shuttle is highly recommended for navigating the vast complex, and the on-site restaurant offers good value.
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Spiritual City: Bai Dinh Pagoda is Unforgettable
Bai Dinh Pagoda is not just a temple; it is a monumental testament to Vietnamese Buddhism and a genuinely awe-inspiring spiritual city. I cannot recommend this destination enough—it is a solid five-star experience that seamlessly blends immense scale with profound tranquility.
The moment you arrive, the sheer size and grandeur of the New Pagoda complex are breathtaking. It holds numerous Asian and Vietnamese records, including the Largest Gold plated Buddha Statue and the Longest Corridor of Arhat Statues (featuring 500 beautifully unique figures!). Walking along this corridor, you feel a deep sense of history and spiritual contemplation.
What makes it so special is the blend of the old and the new. While the new complex is magnificent, you can also explore the Ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda, hidden on the hillside. This older, more intimate space—including sacred caves and grottoes—offers a quiet, thousand-year-old connection to the roots of Vietnamese Buddhist worship.
The architecture is majestic, using local materials and featuring traditional curved roofs, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Ninh Binh limestone mountains. The atmosphere is peaceful and meditative, making it a perfect place for reflection, regardless of your faith.
Bai Dinh Pagoda is a true pilgrimage site and a must-see cultural wonder in Vietnam. Be sure to dedicate at least half a day to fully appreciate its immense beauty and scale."

"We visited this place on a weekday so there were not many visitors. We decided to walk (instead of booking the electric car) which I can recommend since the highlight was to walk through the beautiful landscape between the Pagoda and temples. This way you can enjoy the green surroundings, the quietness of the place and some fresh air. We did not enter each place but picked some highlights and enjoyed it. A good option to spend an afternoon."

"Bai Dinh Pagoda is incredibly rich in history and truly impressive in scale. The complex is spread over a vast area, making it difficult to cover on foot. Electric cars are available to travel between different spots, and purchasing the ticket with the electric shuttle was absolutely worth it.
Each pagoda has QR code scanners along with Wi-Fi access, allowing visitors to easily learn about the history and significance of the place. We were also warmly offered some of the food that had been offered to the deity, which was a very kind and touching gesture by the staff.
The best time to visit is in the evening—you can explore the pagoda in daylight, and after sunset, witness the entire complex beautifully illuminated. Overall, it was a peaceful, well-organized, and memorable experience."
