The friendly nature of the local people and border guards is frequently highlighted, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. "Need to have visa for crossing the China border if you are a foreigner. Beautiful scenery to check out."

"It’s interesting to visit this border check but I don’t know if foreigners like me can cross the border or not"
Soyoung Lee
"The Border Gate area is also quite small, perhaps this is a hub for trade at a smaller regional level so the number of vehicles and goods is not as crowded as other border gates I have been to such as Mong Cai CK and Tan Thanh CK. There's not much to explore around the landscape. What I feel very happy and proud of is reaching the milestone here. However, the people here are very friendly, I was able to talk to border guards. He was very welcoming, explained the regulations when visiting and enthusiastically showed me the way."

Exploring the Border Ridges
When visiting, it's crucial to wear sturdy footwear as the terrain can be uneven. The best times for photography are during the early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft and casts dramatic shadows. Remember that this is a border area, so while the views are spectacular, be mindful of any restricted zones and always respect the local regulations.
Many travelers recommend hiring a local guide to fully appreciate the history and significance of the border region. They can also lead you to the most scenic and less-trafficked paths, ensuring a more authentic experience. The Hoanh Mo Border Gate is a key point of access and a place to witness local trade activities.
The Beauty of Binh Lieu's Rice Terraces
The most famous terraces are often found in areas like Dong Van and Hoanh Mo. Visiting during the harvest season (typically September to November) is highly recommended for photographers and nature lovers alike. The sheer scale and intricate patterns of the terraces are a testament to the ingenuity of the local ethnic minority communities who cultivate them.
To truly capture the essence of these terraces, consider visiting viewpoints that offer a wider perspective. Many travelers suggest waking up early to catch the sunrise illuminating the paddies, or staying late to witness the sunset painting the sky in warm colors. The 'O Quy Ho Pass' area, though further afield, is also known for its stunning terraced landscapes, offering a similar but distinct visual experience.
