Reviews Summary

The Hanoi Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour is generally seen as a convenient and enjoyable way to get an overview of the city's highlights, with comfortable seating and helpful audio guides. However, some travelers have experienced issues with the operational aspects, such as the lack of stop buttons and potential unscheduled closures, leading to a less seamless experience for some. Reddit

"The Hanoi Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour is a convenient and enjoyable way to see the city’s highlights. The double-decker bus is comfortable and offers great views of Hanoi’s streets and landmarks. We liked the flexibility of hopping off to explore and then catching the next bus when ready. The audio guide was helpful for learning a bit about the history and culture while riding. It’s a stress-free option for first-time visitors to get around and discover Hanoi’s main attractions."

"Not to be confused with the other, pretty much the same tour (they only tell you when you try to re-board). This had to be the worst hop on hop off bus experiences I've had, and unluckily for me, I've had quite a few. The primary issue was the un-hoppiness of it all. If you choose to burn yourself to a frazzle on the upper deck, you'll quickly find that there are no stop buttons. I decided instead to use Google maps to track against the helpful free map that the guide had marked up for us at the start to show the suspended bus stops and museums that were closed for lunch during our 4 hour slot*. So, having secured the front upstairs seat we decided we would listen to the audio guide instead. Sadly, our seat was unfurnished with a socket. Trying to get off at train street resulted in a dash to the stairs in the hope you'd be able to get someone's attention before we raced to the next stop. Not a chance. Having worked out the system, we descended the stairs a good 13 km from our chosen stop and asked the attendant to stop at our chosen destination. We're now waiting for the return bus. I've chosen this stop because when the bus inevitably passes us by it won't be too long a walk home. If you use these things, then like my wife you will ignore me. If you don't, consider walking, or using the other company.

*my wife loves the bloody things. I've cooked on the top deck in traffic misery in pretty much every major European city.

this was a rare win for me. We usually remortgage the house for all-day tickets and then maybe get off once, but usually do the loop and go home (probably because I'm so bloody miserable in the heat)."

"It was raining really hard in Hanoi during our night tour, but we still enjoyed the Hop On Hop Off bus experience. I really love Hanoi the city feels so alive and refreshing. The green, tree-lined streets amazed me, and I’m impressed by how well they preserve nature here. It’s beautiful to see a city with so many trees."
