What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
This Taiwanese hot pot restaurant near West Lake offers a diverse menu and scenic views, with a convenient QR code ordering system and late-night hours. While many praise the quality of ingredients like beef and seafood, and the delicious teas, some diners have experienced issues with buffet clarity, communication barriers, and food presentation during busy periods.
"I have been to many Manwah in Hanoi and this might be my least favorite. We were seated on the 3rd floor so we had to walk downstairs to get sauces and other small dishes. The staff in this Manwah did not speak English. The food prepared in this establishment did not look as good as others I have been to, even the cleanliness was subpar.
The only good thing about this Manwah is that it is opened till 2 am. If you don’t need to eat late I would recommend going to the Manwah in Lotte mall or any other one."

"Great place to enjoy the famous Taiwanese Hot Pot with good location (near the West Lake, several tables have direct view to the lake), diverse menu (they have American/Australian beef, pork, numerous kind of seafood, dumplings and all the popular hot pot food) and pretty reasonable price in comparison with other hot pot here in Hanoi. The staff are professional and able to get things done quickly. Also, the beverage are great, all the teas are incredibly delicious and there is the signature Taiwanese milk tea. Ordering is very easy, you can simply scan the QR code and order food as much as you want (if you choose buffet line, of course). All in all, a 5 star experience."

The Taiwanese Hot Pot Experience
Beyond the food, the dining experience is enhanced by the restaurant's location. Several tables offer direct views of Hanoi's West Lake, providing a beautiful and relaxing ambiance, especially during sunset or evening hours. The beverage selection is also noteworthy, with a focus on delicious teas, including a highly recommended signature Taiwanese milk tea. This combination of authentic flavors, scenic views, and efficient service aims to create a memorable culinary journey.
However, it's important to be aware of potential nuances. Some visitors have encountered challenges with communication, particularly if they don't speak Vietnamese, and have experienced confusion regarding buffet inclusions. It's advisable to clarify all details, such as whether specific items like kimchi are part of the buffet or incur extra charges, to ensure a smooth and enjoyable meal.
Navigating the Buffet and Service
Despite the efficiency, clear communication is key. Some guests have reported a lack of transparency regarding what is included in the buffet package, leading to misunderstandings about extra charges for certain items, such as kimchi. It's recommended to proactively ask staff about any specific items you're unsure about to avoid unexpected costs. While the staff are generally attentive, language barriers can sometimes be a challenge for non-Vietnamese speakers. Being prepared with a translation app or pointing to menu items can be helpful.
For those seeking a late-night meal, the restaurant's opening hours until 2 AM are a significant advantage. This makes it a viable option for diners who finish their evening activities late or simply prefer a more relaxed, less crowded dining experience during off-peak hours.
