What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ganh Dau Cape offers stunning views of Cambodia and a more authentic, local experience with mild waters suitable for beginners. However, many visitors are disappointed by the significant litter and trash, which detracts from its natural beauty. Some also find the access road challenging and the overall experience overrated.
"The way to reach this site is a little tricky. You need to go down a small, rocky dirt track to the right of the restaurant and follow this for a few hundred metres. When the track's surface becomes a rough concrete type and veers uphill to the right (and you see all the plastic garbage and litter) then you have reached the spot. There's only room for about a dozen motorbikes and beware of the sloping uneven ground (and the odd thorny bushes). You can then walk down a small dirt track to the rocks and the water's edge. Once at the bottom (easily accessible) you can then climb over the rocks and explore along the coast to the right. Go left, and you can reach a small sandy beach area. The waves here in both directions are very mild and will be fine for supervised children. It's probably ok for the beginner or novice snorkeller too (though not much to see really).
The views are nice and you can see Cambodia, several small rocky islands and many fishing boats. Unfortunately the biggest thing that spoils the entire area is the amount of rubbish (especially discarded plastic cups)... it truly is a sad and pitiful sight.
NB: If you follow the concrete track further you will reach a sealed road, but in both directions it will lead you restricted military buildings where you are prohibited to enter."

"This is what I thought this whole island would be like. Putting all the rubbish aside (big problem in Vietnam) this beach has a really nice vibe, better snorkling than off the southern islands and really nice local people. If you are used to big modern resorts, this may not be for you."

"This is the dirtiest, most disgusting place I have seen in 10+ visits to Vietnam. It's a disgrace. The natural beauty is ruined by locals who leave trash everywhere and people who come and have BBQ fires on the rocks. To make it worse, when we got back to the motorcycle, thieves had syphoned off all the fuel. We must have disturbed them (2 young boys) because the container was still there so I poured it back into the fuel tank. Lucky.
Horrible place. Bad energy. Avoid."
