What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sao Beach is praised for its stunning natural beauty, featuring soft white sand and clear turquoise waters, making it a picturesque tropical paradise. While many enjoy the tranquility and photo opportunities, some visitors note that the beach can get crowded and the surrounding facilities and service may not always meet high expectations.
"On first sight, the hotel looks impressive. But after 24hrs, the literal cracks appear.
The main building is old and dirty. Patio doors to balconies are broken and hard to move, our room door needs to be pushed hard to shut. No power points by the beds, very weird. The room overlooking the pool area are an impressive size and layout. Mould on the walls in the shower and stains on pretty much every surface.
The pool is ok, what you'd expect for a resort hotel. The beach barely exists, just enough sand to walk down onto and get into the water.
The location is literally in the middle of nowhere and you need to catch a Grab taxi to go anywhere.
The food is average at best. Breakfast range is ok, but the limited pastries on offer are all stale and not up to the French heritage. Only the pool bar is open for food after breakfast, with a limited menu.
Where this hotel really falls down is the service. I don't like expecting people in other countries to speak English, but a resort hotel on a holiday island that is predominantly setup to cater to tourists, should have a good level of English. This is not the case once you get past reception. Most of the bar staff we have met in 2 days have barely functional English and struggled to take our drink and food orders. The service was incrediblely slow, several times we cancelled items because they hadn't arrived. On the first evening I counted 4 staff in the bar but only 2 appeared to be working.
We are travelling as a group, the bar staff should be accurately recording the orders to each room number. In the end, it was down to the members of our group to sort this as the poor staff had no idea. Drinks took a long time to serve and the bar staff did not know how to make basic cocktails from their menu. Mojito are not made with Coke and Espresso Martinis not made with a tower of whipped cream on top.
Despite having multiple wifi listed, whenever you check on your device, the connections are terrible and the speeds are very slow.
The room safe do not work, no where to secure valuables in the room.
Very disappointed."

"If you looking for a quiet spot away from the crowds then this is it. Two awesome swimming pools with bars and a beach. the rooms are clean, comfy and very spacious. Breakfast is standard but htere is always something for everyone. Note this is not a 5 star hotel, while it is a great place to get away and relax there are some issues. The gym is small and smelly, while the TV options ar every limited. Lunch and dinner, ,make sure to have sometime, as the orders do take quite a while. be patient when getting a Grab/taxi as they take a while to get to the hotel."

"Location is long way inside forest. Little isolated from market and less accessibility. Grab does come here and they arrange vehicle for you too. But room service is very poor. They didn't give us welcome drinks. They have buggy service to roam around large area. They don't come for long even after calling 2-3 times. They don't deliver towels for hours and also don't put extra bed till night after asking 5-6 times. Their in house restaurant food is also not good for vegetarians, so need to travel outside again and again. Attached pool and beach are okay. Breakfast is good. Not many insects in November. Garden view Room is good and spacious but service is very poor. Overall okayish and little disappointed."
