Reviews Summary
Bai Chay Market offers a genuine local experience with significantly lower prices than tourist spots, though its appearance is rustic and dimly lit. Visitors appreciate the friendly vendors and the opportunity to immerse in local culture, but some find the atmosphere a bit eerie or unappealing. It's a place for those seeking authenticity over modern amenities.

"The sand was not smooth as the sand at other beaches, it contained a lot of smash seashells. Be careful if you don't want your feet to be cut. There are many benches there and they block the view of the beach. The bathroom and toilet were quite far away and they were unisex, everybody used the same area to get dress or change. The water was clean. From the beach, we can see mountains and huge ships nearby. There was some game to play at the beach and I think it was fun. We hired about 50 benches and some tables but other people kept sitting at the benches we hired. After about 1 hour, the owner came and took 1 or 2 tables away, saying we couldn't use them anymore and they needed to take them back for other customers. It's weird."

"Bai Chay Market in Ha Long may not have the most modern appearance, as the building looks a bit old and somewhat eerie, but it’s a hidden gem for those looking for great deals. Unlike the busier, tourist-oriented markets nearby, Bai Chay offers a more authentic shopping experience with significantly cheaper prices.
The market might not attract large crowds, which makes for a more relaxed shopping atmosphere. The vendors here are genuinely friendly and honest, willing to chat and offer insights into their products without the pressure to buy. This made my visit feel much more personal and enjoyable.
You can find a variety of goods here, from fresh produce and local delicacies to unique souvenirs. If you’re in Ha Long and want to experience the local culture while shopping for bargains, Bai Chay Market is definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for its rustic charm!"
