What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the exceptional hospitality and service on Lan Ha Bay cruises, particularly highlighting the attentive staff and delicious, accommodating cuisine. The stunning natural scenery and well-organized excursions are major draws, though some find onboard evening entertainment less engaging and the final morning check-out a bit rushed.
"Our experience on the Ambassador Signature Cruise was nothing short of spectacular!
From the moment we arrived at the check in area we were greeted by Mr John (our cruise host) who explained the process of being transferred to a speedboat to take us out to the main cruise ship, and what the process was once we boarded the ship.
From the moment we arrived at the main ship we were greeted with friendly smiles and hellos from all of the staff. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
We had the Captain's view suite which was very spacious and fancy with a large private balcony at the front of the ship.
The food on board was delicious and when we mentioned some food intollerancese the chef walked around the buffet with us and pointed out which foods were safe to eat. He also prepared special soup at the dinner as the main soup contained an allergen.
The day excursions were fun and interesting and the timing of them was well planned. During our excursion through light and dark caves on the bamboo boat the guide pointed out some
Langurs perched on the top of one of the peaks. Langurs are an endangered primate and there are only 60 left in the world so this was a particularly special experience.
I highly recommend Ambassador Signature Cruise as our experience was perfect!"

"We had an incredible 2-day experience aboard the beautiful Ambassador Signature — and we loved every minute of it! Our room was stunning, complete with a lovely private balcony, and the food was on another level. Since we mentioned our vegetarian diet in advance, the crew went the extra mile and prepared a full vegetarian menu just for us — and every dish was absolutely delicious!
The excursions were another highlight of the trip. We especially loved biking around Cat Ba Island and learning about the rich history of Viet Hai village.
The entire staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, always attentive and kind. It truly felt like a 5-star experience from start to finish. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable cruise in Vietnam!"

"We booked a 2d1n cruise with the Ambassador Signature cruise to Lan Ha bay. Mind you I don't really do cruises but figure visiting the Ha Long bay was on the bucket list (I know, it's Lan Ha bay, but honestly in person I couldn't tell the difference) so might as well see it.
Below are my experience.
Pros
1. Great hospitality. All the staffs were very friendly, both Vietnamese and foreign staffs alike. No complaints there.
2. Organized. They briefed you on the itinerary before boarding and included them in each room. They announce a few times as reminder before each event as well. I appreciate punctuality so it's not unpredictable.
3. Clean and spacious room. We both 2 double rooms and both rooms were spotless. Bathroom works great.
4. Fun activities. I'd say you should participate in all the physical/offship activities. These short cruises aren't meant to be like the giant cruises across the ocean that you just relax and tour onboard. There's not much to do on board and honestly the onboard events are quite lame that you can do anywhere else in vietnam. For us we went to visit Viet Hai village (lychee season and the lychee there is so dam sweet), play with the waterslide and kayak. Mind you none of us could swim but we still enjoyed everything.
5. Common complaints with Ha Long Bay tour is the loud noise at night. For Lan Ha Bay, where we docked for the night I could only see another ship nearby and it was dead quiet after the live show is over (11pm or so) so no problem getting a good night sleep.
Cons:
1. Final morning is too rushed. Would appreciate if they didn't rush people to checkout so early because we'd all ended up sitting on the top deck doing nothing anyway.
2. Dinner (we went for the asian course) was disappointing. There wasn't much of a selection and the food was okay at best, even the extra lobsters we ordered was average. I had better shrimps even.
3. Services - The TV with Chinese speech confirmation that you can't mute every time you hit an option is silly. I gave up on the TV real quick. Would be nice to have the option to cast music to the TV. Drinks didn't seem outrageously expensive during happy hour but I can see why people would have problem with it. Spa was relaxing but costs a lot more than if you'd get it inland.
Overall, given everything, I still enjoyed the cruise. The biggest problem that will drastically affect your experience is the weather. We lucked out in that it was raining but only early morning or during events that we might get wet anyway (kayak) so it works out. I'd say since you're already there, might as well try the 3d2n cruise which is exactly like 2d1n except the additional day is to visit Cat Ba island."
