What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Tram Chim National Park for its serene natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and unique wetland ecosystem. The boat tours through melaleuca forests and the chance to see diverse birdlife are highlights. However, some note that bird sightings can vary by season, and the lack of English-speaking guides can be a drawback.
"This was my first time visiting Tràm Chim National Park, and it was quite an interesting experience. I drove from Ho Chi Minh City, and it took a little over three hours to get there since the traffic was quite busy — so I’d recommend leaving early if you plan to make it a day trip. Our group of four didn’t book in advance, so when we arrived, we had to wait about 30 minutes for a boat. The ticket cost was around 100,000 VND per person for a 1.5-hour boat tour.
We really enjoyed sitting on the small wooden boat gliding along the narrow waterways and entering the melaleuca forest area. The peaceful atmosphere and fresh air made it a relaxing experience. There’s also a small restaurant area inside the park where visitors can have meals and rest, and the boat will wait while you eat.
The natural scenery was beautiful, with melaleuca trees, lotus, water lilies, and diverse wetland plants. However, since we came during the early flood season, the water had a brownish tone instead of the clear green color often seen in photos, and there weren’t many birds around — we only spotted about 2–4 species, mostly storks. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend calling the park in advance to ask about the best season for bird watching, as it can make a big difference to your experience."

"Tram Chim National Park, located in Khóm 4, Tam Nông District, Đồng Tháp Province, is a remarkable wetland reserve in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Spanning approximately 7,600 hectares, the park was established in 1999 to preserve the unique submerged inland ecosystem of the Plain of Reeds.
Designated as Vietnam’s fourth Ramsar site, Tram Chim is renowned for its rich biodiversity. It serves as a sanctuary for over 230 bird species, including the endangered red-crowned crane (Grus antigone sharpii), making it a prime destination for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
Visitors can explore the park’s intricate network of canals and wetlands by boat, offering a serene experience amidst lush vegetation and diverse wildlife. The best time for birdwatching is during the dry season, from December to April, when water levels recede, and birds congregate in the area.
Beyond birdwatching, Tram Chim offers opportunities to engage with local culture through activities like traditional fishing and observing rice cultivation practices. These experiences provide insight into the harmonious relationship between the local communities and their environment.
In summary, Tram Chim National Park stands as a testament to Vietnam’s commitment to environmental conservation, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty and ecological significance of the Mekong Delta’s wetlands."

"Beautiful and piece place, river with pure water, lotus and water lily. There are many super rare birds here. You should go on August to November, the water rises higher, fishes are much more, that leads to be much more birds"
