Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Yok Don National Park for its incredible ethical elephant encounters and immersive nature experiences. The park's commitment to conservation and the passion of its guides are frequently highlighted, making it a deeply moving and recommended destination for nature lovers. Some minor issues with accommodation facilities were noted, but they did not detract significantly from the overall positive experience.

"Amazing nature experience in Yok Don National Park!

We spent four unforgettable days in Yok Don National Park- a wonderful experience for anyone who loves nature, wildlife and the silence of the forest.

I especially recommend guide Sg A’Su for his enthusiasm, deep knowledge and the way he shares it with such passion, and guide Siam for his expertise and stories about the behavior of birds and elephants.

On the first day, we joined an elephant observation tour with Siam, who told us fascinating stories about the elephants’ lives. These elephants were rescued from former owners and released into the forest of Yok Don National Park. Each elephant is cared for by two rangers who protect them from wild elephants that sometimes attack the domesticated ones. Rangers live in the forest- sleeping in hammocks, tents, or at ranger stations- and also protect the park from illegal logging and poaching.

On the second day, we went on a bird-watching trip with Siam and saw many colorful species- he made it truly engaging and educational.

On the third and fourth days, we joined a 1.5-day trekking and camping trip near a waterfall with Sg A’Su. It was an incredible adventure- he explained the forest ecosystem, showed us plants to taste, smell and touch. During the trip, he also took us to the rangers’ base for dinner and breakfast, where we could meet the rangers, feel the atmosphere of their everyday life, and watch them heading out at dusk to protect the forest and its wildlife from poachers and illegal logging. It was an unforgettable and deeply moving experience.

Highly recommended to anyone who wants to feel connected with nature. I already want to come back!"

"We are on the way back to the airport, it was marvelous. We all enjoyed the elephant tour. At first I hesitated taking the bird tour due to the early starting time, but now I really regret the mess with the plane bookings (we had planned for two nights but were forced to stay only one) because I think I would have enjoyed it very much. We saw a few birds, plants, and other animals during the elephant tour and the guide was very nice and stopped to show us some birds and tell us about them. Thank you very much !
The rooms were not brand new, but clean and functional.
Everyone was nice and smiling 🙂
The site is a little bit remote but it's worth the trip (about 1h15 by car, but you get tarred roads all the way, so not too much remote)"

"Wow. What an experience.
As far as im aware this is the only ethical elephant sanctuary in vietnam.
The elephants seem very happy, and they have people who follow them to keep them safe which is lovely.
I did the full day tour where i saw 2 elephants in the morning, and 1 in the afternoon (there was another to see but a rainstorm made it so we couldnt get over the river to find her! But wow, what an experience to be in a rainforest with elephants in a rain storm)
All other food on site is very reasonably charged, and staff are very nice.
Staff will help you get the bus from the nearby town which was very helpful.
We stayed the night on site which was lovely. The only downside is that tje bathroom did leak when it was raining, and we couldnt manage to lock the bedroom door.
It was sad to see that peacocks were caged up when the rest of the site was so lovely.
Milk and black (the dogs) are so lovely and friendly."
