They were part of the defensive structures of the city of Gozlev. They got their name "Gates of the Firewood Market" because at the exit from the gates there was a bazaar where they sold tiles and firewood. The gates were located on the road leading to Bakhchisaray. Very often, Crimean khans visited Gozlev to pray in one of the most beautiful mosques in Crimea - Khan-Jami and always crossed the gate to enter the city."

Several centuries ago, the gate was part of the defensive fortifications of the city of Gözlöv (Közlöv), which was part of the Crimean Khanate. From here, rulers departed for Bakhchisaray after completing prayers at the Juma-Jami Mosque. The Gözlöv Gate was destroyed in the 1950s and restored in 2004 at the initiative of city authorities with funds from philanthropists."
