Reviews Summary

Julia Restaurante is celebrated for its exceptionally delicious and surprising tasting menus that offer a journey of flavors and textures. Diners consistently praise the attentive and friendly service in an intimate, cozy atmosphere. While many rave about the originality and overall experience, a few note minor inconsistencies with wine pairings or specific dishes.

"Tasty and attentive

Food: amazing. The tasting set consisted of several dishes with a wide variety of tastes, textures, temperatures and ingredients. Interestingly, this is the first tasting menu ever, where I enjoyed every dish. I don't even want to spoiler it. Simply delicious journey. A lot of food.

Service: amazing. Very attentive without interfierence. Simple yet friendly chat, short food introductions, cleaned the crumbles, changes all the dirty dishes, added water on time. Food served quickly. I don't remember other places where I felt as comfortable.

Atmosphere: just right. Small space, designed pretty.

Overall I definitely recommend and will come back myself."

Tatiana Kondratiuk

"Dining at Julia was a super memorable experience. Every dish was a great discovery of flavors of local Argentinian ingredients. I appreciated that they didn't stick to specific culinary techniques, but instead matched the technique to the ingredients and what the chef wanted to express. I would love to return and try a different seasonal menu and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent meal in Buenos Aires. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the interior design was minimal and pleasant."

Javier Kohen

"Julia was easily one of the top 10 restaurant meals of my life. We loved the Asian influences laced within Argentine foods and exclusively local ingredients. Every bite was a flavor bomb! I didn’t take a picture before I ate it, but the cherry dessert was something worth flying back to Buenos Aires for!!!"

Time Out

The best restaurants in Buenos Aires

The place is small, the cuisine they serve immense (like the line), with a depth in which spicy accents are revealed. Everyone wants to come to this indie bistro that doesn't marry any specialty or type of cuisine. A modern spot in Villa Crespo that chef Julio Martín Baez made fashionable, for the personality of its cuisine and the human group behind it.

Where to Eat in Buenos Aires, According to Chef Elena Reygadas

It’s this small place, and you can feel there’s a lot of love in every dish. They’re trying to do something beyond meat, which is obviously the thing in Buenos Aires. There’s seafood, and really good vegetables.

Dinner tonight is at Julia, another coveted BsAs restaurant where reservations are essential. (If you can’t get in, try its nearby sister restaurant, Franca.) Julio Martín Baez, chef at both restaurants, fuses ingredients from small producers across Argentina with global flavors. Both seasonal à la carte and 10-course tasting menus are available; past standouts have included a koji-aged wagyu flank, fresh Patagonia squid tossed in a yogurt-walnut pesto served with sliced avocado, and chicken pâté with Jerusalem artichoke chips.

Undoubtedly among the best restaurants in Buenos Aires and ranked #50 among the best in Latin America 2022, Julia describes itself as an “indie” establishment offering unique sensory experiences in which seasonal products are cooked in innovative ways. The menu itself is a riot of intriguing concepts: how does trout tartare, raspberry vinaigrette, tagine and alga nori sound?

Chef Julio Martín Báez at Villa Crespo’s Julia Restaurante creates a fine-dining experience but without the endless courses, and I can easily while away an afternoon feasting on small plates at Naranjo Bar in Chacarita.
