It says something when I go back to the same restaurant not once, not twice, but THREE times while visiting a new place. And La Oveja Negra was that incredible place while I was visiting El Chaltén 🤤🥩🏔 #elchalten #Patagonia #Argentina #elchaltenargentina #foodie #traveler #food #travelfoodie #southamerica #steakhouse #parati #parrilla #parrillaargentina

El Chalten is a beautiful little town in the heart of Argentinian Patagonia 🇦🇷 Get here by bus from El Calafate! The drive is beautiful. Accommodation is expensive so book well in advance! Buy groceries from El Calafate as everything is super inflated in El Chalten! Be prepared for unpredictable weather! Get ready for lots of hiking and awesome landscapes! Reviews Summary

La Cervecería Chaltén is celebrated for its cozy ambiance and the quality of its on-site brewed beers. Diners praise the friendly service and the unique food offerings like locro stew and empanadas, often noting the complimentary bread and soup as delightful touches. However, some find the prices to be on the higher side, and occasionally, the food can be inconsistent, with some dishes lacking flavor.

"Come here for a cozy, wonderful meal!

We ended up eating dinner here on our recent trip. Everything was fantastic! The free bread and mini cup of vegetable soup are a nice touch and are the perfect way to warm up after a long hike. I'm not a beer person, but my partner enjoyed their beer a lot. We didn't have anything we didn't like, but my personal favorites were the locro and the dulce de leche pancake."

Caroline Ahlgrim

"Before coming, know very well that this isn't a cheap place. Nothing in El Chalten is cheap. However, the decor of the place and the service details are great. After you are seated, they serve u popcorn and iced lemon water while you go through the menu. After placing your order, they serve you a cup of vegetable soup which tasted amazing and a bread basket with a dip made from carrots. Prices are really high with their beer at ARS7500. I had the salmon ravioli without ordering any additional sauce. At first I thought i would probably screw the dish but it turned out really well with just olive oil and cheese. The taste was really great and complemented it well. I came at 850pm and it was full so waited for 30mins. I really loved the interior and decor and overall vibe of the place. Just note the high prices!"

"This place fills up fast and has a long wait, so get there early. We arrived at 6:30 in order to get a table right away, but if we’d come 15 minutes later, would have been caught in the wait. Great service, great food. Beautiful wood cabin, good for a rainy, windy or cold day. Four choices of beer that they brew."

This successful microbrewery is famous in the region for its brews and comfort food. Of course, it's not just the hops bringing in the crowds; they also cook up delicious soups, snacks, empanadas, and a great locro (hearty traditional northern Argentine stew). The owners of this restaurant and bar pride themselves on the handmade beers, with the stout or negra not to be missed.

A cosy wooden cabin adorned with driftwood decore, Cerveceria Chaltén is the town’s most popular microbrewery-cum-drinking hole. It gets rather busy on an evening as wearing hikers stop off here after a day on the national park’s trails in order to sample the excellent unfiltered pilsner and a plate of locro, the tradiitonal spict Patagonia strew. Pop over to La Cerveceria the microbrewery which has been around for 18 years for a pint of pilsner and an empanada or nip into B&B for happy hour (5:00pm to 8:00pm) and nab a table outside for glorious mountain views. Stay on for dinner if you fancy a burger- their ‘classic’ plus a basket of fries will hit the spot.
