El primero –su nombre significa pan, en sueco– es un emprendimiento que abrió hace tres años de la mano del chef Sebastián Flores. "Amasamos todos los días y trabajamos con materiales frescos y nobles. Nuestra cocina es sencilla y los platos tienen una rusticidad aparente que encierra una frescura muy hermosa", resume Gabriela, una de las empleadas de Bröd, que tiene un patio muy bonito al aire libre, en una casa con aires coloniales.

The trendiest and sleekest café in town, Bröd, serves yummy apple crumbles, sandwiches, custard tarts garnished with fresh berries, pumpkin and carrot rolls and thirst-quenching lemonades with mint and lemon and juices. Run by Sebastian Flores, former chef at beautiful Cavas Wine Lodge in Luján de Cuyo, you won’t be disappointed by the high standards of this place. Located right on street Chile 894 in the centre of town, it’s perfect for when you want to get a decent start to your morning, with poached or scrambled eggs and a variety of bread and pastries.

Schedule a dinner at rough-and-ready Fuente y Fonda 00 54 261 429 8833 on Montevideo, which serves enormous home-style mains – from classic cuts of beef to Milanesa napolitana (breaded steak) topped with ham, tomatoes and melted cheese.

Brod – Centro: Brod comenzó como una panadería, pero ahora son franquicia y tienen muchos locales esparcidos por Mendoza. Prueba el que está en el centro, a una cuadra de la plaza principal, Plaza Independencia. Tienen un patio al aire libre único en el medio de la ciudad, donde puedes refrescarte con sus exquisitas limonadas de jengibre, o con un rosado de la vinoteca de al lado, no te pierdas su sándwich de salmón ahumado y su pizza individual al estilo italiano.

There is no better way to make the most of a sunny day in Mendoza than an outdoor meal or glass of wine on the sun-drenched, white-washed patio of BROD. This local favorite is an outdoor cafe in the heart of downtown, steps from the Plaza Independencia. Start with a light breakfast of fresh baked pastries or fluffy eggs, or sit down for the full brunch menu in the bright courtyard.

Unfortunately we were too late in the day to go rafting, so we took brochures from both places and headed to a place called BRÖD for some late breakfast and coffee. We really wanted to do winery tours without a tour, so we also took this time and their Wifi to plan our own winery tour route for the next day. Pick up a coffee and selection of facturas (sweet pastries) from BRÖD, the locals’ favourite bakery. Enjoy this luscious breakfast whilst meandering the streets and plazas, all the while appreciating the cleanliness and general tranquility of downtown Mendoza.

Top of the list would have to be Bröd, a sleek and hip bakery café in the centre of town. The coffee here will easily wake you up each morning, as will their impressive selection of fresh pastries and bread.
