There are plenty of different restaurant options, and from award-winning fine dining options, such as Arnguli and Uluru-based outdoor dining experiences like Sounds of Silence (which Tourism Australia LOVES marketing) and Tali Wiru costing well over $200 per head that makes it seem like a worthwhile splurge for some special celebration in future. Otherwise, cheaper options include Outback Pioneer BBQ, Gecko’s Café and Ayers “Wok” (haha) – about $20 for a bowl of stir fry noodles.

Here diners will find themselves immersed in such gustatory delights as kangaroo steak with bush tomato glaze, washed down with a glass of Australian white wine. Tali Wiru', meaning beautiful dune in local Anangu language, encapsulates the magic of fine dining under the Southern Desert sky. Instead of walls, this open-air restaurant has magnificent views of Uluru and the distant domes of Kata Tjuta, and for unique ambiance there's the stillness of the desert at night. Relax with Champagne and canap�s as the sun sets to the sound of a didgeridoo.

Greedy Girl and gluttonous husband rarely like to eat in the hotel where they’re staying so, during a phone call to organise trips and tours for our lightning visit to Australia’s red centre, the helpful operator suggested we might like to try Arnguli Grill for dinner. Having checked out the various restaurant reviews online there seemed to be a fair smattering of good comments.

On the final night of our three day stay in Uluṟu, we went for dinner at Arnguli Grill, part of the Dessert Gardens hotel. This is one of the more expensive restaurants in the Yulara resort area, but the food here was amazing!. We shared the native tasting platter which came with kangaroo, wallaby and emu as well as salads and sauces flavoured with native herbs and spices.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite at Kulata Academy Cafe, where trainees serve coffee in cups with Indigenous artwork and freshly made pastries – try the generous rose-infused meringue – or dining on saltimbocca chicken with quandong relish and duo potato gratin at the a la carte Arnguli Grill & Restaurant, the food is local and delicious.

Adjacent to the Mangata Bistro & Bar this restaurant is a little more high end – with prices to match. While the website lists the menu items unfortunately none of the dietary is listed. However, we took a photo of the menu so I can tell you with confidence.

Arnguli Grill is located at Deserts Garden Hotel and prepares dinners where native herbs and spices get to flavour modern dishes. They serve, among other things, kangaroo and crocodile. They have a good wine list and wonderful desserts.

The finest a la carte restaurant is the Arnguli Grill at the Desert Gardens resort. It is a memorable dining experience probably aimed more at the international visitor. The restaurant is richly decorated with indigenous art works.

We enjoyed a quick lunch at the Kulata Academy Cafe and Arnguli Grill. For an unforgettable meal among nature, Tali Wiru is a four-course evening dinner experience set outdoors and inspired by the landscape.

Located at the Voyages Desert Gardens Hotel, Arnguli Grill features an a la carte flame-grilled menu including steak and seafood, in relaxed surrounds. Operation subject to seasonality.

We stopped here for dessert after the Field of Light experience. The staff were unsure if we could dine just for dessert which was a bit frustrating. Surely that's not an issue?

Once we had explored our room — TWO beds, a shower that could fit an entire family and a deck overlooking the pool — we got ready for our first night out, at Arnguli Grill.
