Asadero Super Burro

Asadero Super Burromight not be a place that you know about just by walking around town as it’s down a nondescript side street off of Avenida Miguel Hidalgo. You’ll find an unassuming restaurant front with a crowd of people waiting to get seated or get their food to go, which is an option here as well. Coming from California, when I think about a super burrito, it comes with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, etc inside of the burrito.

For a casual, no-frills meal packed with bold flavors, Asadero Super Burro is a must. This local favorite specializes in flame-grilled meats and oversized burritos, served in a lively, open-air setting that feels straight out of a Baja roadside eatery. The star of the menu is, of course, the super burro—a massive, char-grilled burrito stuffed with perfectly seasoned steak, chicken, or shrimp, plus melted cheese and all the fixings.

Locals pack into this little hole-in-the-wall taco spot where they make the tortillas fresh to order and the carne asada is so juicy it soaks through those fresh tortillas. Have a few tacos or order a papa rellena, which is a baked potato that is finished on the barbecue with cheese, mushrooms, corn, and a meat of your choice. It’s served with their piping hot tortillas so that you can make your own tacos.

We’ve come here after long days of off-road expeditions, ravenous and ready for one of their signature burritos or the famous papa rellena, a stuffed baked potato filled with savory beef and topped with sour cream and cheese. It’s a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, and the portions are big enough to satisfy even the biggest appetites.

Seconds on Orlandos, Mita Gourmet, Los Mandiles (not currently open for dinner) and the Mision Hotel, Mezzaluna, Super Burro and if you're tired of all that seafood and Mexican food Alma del Sur has an amazing chicken pot pie, BBQ spare ribs or a chicken fried pork chop!. Lot's of smaller neigborhood shops too... our fav is Asadero Yumar up on Juarez past the Pemex.

One of the best things to do in Loreto is eating like a local and head to Asadero Super Burro for, as you can guess, super burritos. Plan to go to this restaurant, HUNGRY; they don’t call it Super Burro for nothing. It is a casual dinner spot that is uber popular among the locals, so anticipate a short wait. However, the tasty burritos de gran tamaño (grand-sized burritos) make it worthwhile and are very shareable.This is the place to bring teens with bottomless appetites.

Asadero Super Burro is one of the best Loreto restaurants that you should visit. In fact, local families, as well as foreign tourists, often flock here each night. This is not surprising since this is where you will find the best tacos, grilled chicken, and loaded potatoes in town.

If you are really hungry and want to have a big meal for dinner, order a Super Burro which is a BIG beef burrito. Or try the huge Papa Rellena which is a stuffed potato mixed with beef, cheese, sour cream, and corn. They also serve great arrachera tacos with delicious salsas.

For all the big eaters, the Super Buro serves huge burritos, a favorite with locals and teens. The burritos almost fall off the edges of the oval plate they are served on. After seeing one pass my table, I ordered a couple of tacos instead (a tip for smaller eaters).

Head to Asadero Super Burro with an empty stomach – their burritos and stuffed potatoes are huge!. – and watch the cooks work their grilling magic in the open kitchen. Chances are you won’t even need one of their freshly baked tortillas.
