Is this Adelaide’s best laksa? 🍜🔥 I’ve been coming here for years, and it NEVER disappoints. Bold, creamy, rich - exactly how a laksa should be! Plus, you get to choose between vermicelli or hokkien noodles. 📍Asian Gourmet (Stall WR6) Located in the Adelaide Central Market 44/60 Gouger St, Adelaide SA 5000 Open Monday to Saturday Have you tried it yet?!👇🏽 #ad #adelaidecentralmarket #adelaide #sou...

Reviews Summary

Asian Gourmet is celebrated for its authentic and flavorful Malaysian cuisine, with the laksa and char kway teow being standout favorites. While many praise the delicious food and generous portions, some reviews mention inconsistent or less-than-friendly customer service, particularly from the owner. The bustling market atmosphere adds to the experience, but be prepared for potential waits due to limited staff.

"Asian Gourmet is an Adelaide Central Market institution for a reason - great food!! You will usually need to fight for a table as there is a line out the door but the food is worth it. Service is qui k so tables turn over quickly."

"Great location right near central market with a view of the lion dance for the Chinese New Year. Good prices for the variety of menu selections and the food came out fairly quickly even though it was quite busy . Though the bowls didn't look that big, they held quite a lot, tasted great and was a good price compared with some of the other eateries around Chinatown. Well worth checking out."

Andy Bryant

"The Asian female boss had a bad attitude. I told her that my girlfriend had a cold and needed toilet paper. She looked disdainful and handed me two pieces of toilet paper without any eye contact. We ordered green curry rice and garlic prawns. The dishes were served quickly but not delicious. However, the Indian female waiter was kind and smiling."

Our guide to the Adelaide Central Market

Take a seat at Asian Gourmet, where a delicious Malaysian menu and no-nonsense service awaits. The stall has been run by husband and wife duo Doreen and Charles since 1985, and in that time the pair have perfected the art of the lunchtime rush, serving up steaming bowls of laksa while chatting with their regulars – some of whom have been dining at Asian Gourmet for more than 30 years!. Writer’s tip: the menu offers up all sorts of mouth-watering Malaysian dishes, but laksa is the hero here – choose from one of two sizes and dig into the spicy coconut noodle soup.
