Reviews Summary

Cellar Door Wine Store is lauded for its exceptional selection of local wines and the outstanding knowledge and friendliness of its staff, particularly Lachlan. Visitors appreciate the opportunity to sample unique regional bottles in a welcoming atmosphere. While primarily a wine store, it also offers coffee and snacks, with potential future restaurant plans.

"We stopped in Beechworth for a coffee and to buy a few bottles on wine from the area as we were travelling in our motorhome. The owner who was very knowledgeable assisted. We told him what we were after he asked pertinent questions and voila purchased a bottle of The Ninth Mile Pinot Noir and A. Rodda Cabernets. Both excellent wines"

Michele Haslam

"Fantastic place! Lachlan is knowledgeable, welcoming and personable. Introduced me to a new grape variety I'd previously not heard of and even hunted down some wild mint growing in the back for me to take home. If in Beechworth absolute must to drop in!"

Rob Rossi

"Had a great experience here when visiting Beechworth last week. Lachlan introduced us to some great wines - all locally sourced. He was a friendly host with plenty of knowledge and some bonus jokes. We’re keen to return later this year to check out the area being built out the back that will become an eatery."

One perfect weekend eating and drinking in Beechworth

Prop yourself up at the bar of the Cellar Door Wine Store and let owner Lachlan Bisset introduce you to the region's boutique winemakers. Bisset, who runs the wine bar and shop with his parents, has stocked his shelves with the region's award-winning chardonnays as well as shiraz, cabernet and Italian and Spanish varieties. Bisset's wine knowledge is impressive and, if you ask nicely, he'll make you a peach margarita, too.

A Weekend in Beechworth

**It’s sadly time to make your way home, but a small diversion to Milawa on your way is worth it, including a visit to the Milawa Cheese Factory to stock up on locally made and delightful cheeses (make sure you try their Gold!), the Mustard Factory store, or the bigger, more famous but equally impressive Brown Brothers winery, voted by Gourmet Traveller Wine as one of the more impressive cellar doors in Australia.

Cellar Door Wine Store is a wine store that specialises in local wineries (especially wineries that don’t have a cellar door for the public) that also serve cheese and charcuterie platters and other nibbles. While it’s not strictly family friendly you can enjoy cakes and nibbles. I have a slice of pillowy orange cake which was made by the owner of the Four Seasons Cottage!

Weekend getaway to Beechworth

Cellar Door Wine Store in the main drag is a bottle shop, bar and cafe where you can order a little plate of cheese and charcuterie and one of the dozen or so local wines on offer from winemakers such as Sorrenberg and Savaterre. There is also a wall of really good wine from local winemakers at good prices. A few doors down is the Tanswells Commercial Hotel.

Beechworth travel guide and things to do: 20 reasons to visit

Every town, and for that matter every suburb, needs a wine bar and store like this one. The brainchild of Aaron Taylor, a former maitre'd of Provenance, is a showcase of north-east Victoria's best drops, many of the small Beechworth producers, sans cellar doors, such as Giaconda, Castagna, Sorrenberg, Fighting Gully Road and A.
