What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Morgans Seafood Market & Takeaway offers a mixed bag of experiences. Many praise the incredibly fresh seafood, sourced directly from trawlers, and the pleasant atmosphere, especially the outdoor seating by the harbor. However, a significant number of reviews point to issues with food quality, particularly the fish and chips, with complaints of dryness, rubberiness, and coldness, alongside poor service.
"Our best seafood meal during our visit to Australia. You pick your fish and they cook it for you. Everything was delicious! We got good-snapper battered and grilled, calamari, fried prawns, half lobster 🦞, and fries. Then we bought a bunch of cooked cold seafood to take home."

"How cruel is rhe take away here? 20m away, a world of fish so fresh it still responds to bait. But the takeaway section gets the factory seconds, with all the lustre of the fresh section, faded and grey. And then they cook what life was left out of it. Standard frozen chips can be ok or awful. Here, the old oil used for both fish and chips and recooked, partly cold, and mostly leaden chips are really a crime against spuds. The slaw was the only upside. It's all just so sad. The collection of kids working the area clearly just dont have any seafood training or the resultant care."

"Hands down the best fresh and cooked seafood I’ve had anywhere in Australia. Great value fish and chips packs and amazing variety of fresh seafood. Staff were lovely and food was amazing. Had the whiting pack which was really good. Great outdoor area to eat by the water and plenty of bins and handwashing bay after you’ve finished your fried food. Such a pleasant change from Sydney eateries where charging customers as much as they can get away with for sub par seafood is now the norm. Great experience you won’t regret!"
