Reviews Summary
Sasso Italiano is lauded for its delicious, authentic Italian cuisine and impeccable service, creating a vibrant and nostalgic dining atmosphere. While many rave about the unique Negroni menu and standout dishes like the pistachio panzerotti, some diners have noted inconsistent pasta preparation and pizza sogginess, alongside occasional service attentiveness issues.
"Had the pleasure of celebrating my bridal shower in Sasso’s private room Bar Sasso and it was perfection. The team were so kind and helpful and the ambience was great. All my guests complimented the food and the fact we had a private space just for us! can’t recommend enough and will be back! 10/10 🤍🥂"

"Sasso Italiano is absolutely a great Italian restaurant by any objective standard. You can tell from the dishes that the kitchen puts in real effort and care, and the flavors are very authentic.
The pizza base, in particular, was impressively fluffy — probably one of the best I’ve had in any Italian restaurant.
The service was also outstanding. I was waiting alone for my friend for about half an hour, and even though I hadn’t ordered yet, every staff member was attentive and made me feel very welcome and looked after.
The space itself is beautifully designed and really adds to the experience. All in all, it was a lovely visit and I will definitely be back."

"Tucked away in Woolloongabba, Sasso Italiano offers a relaxed dining experience. We recently visited using an EatClub promotion for 20% off, and while the food and drinks impressed, with generous shareable portions, there were a few service hiccups. The service was efficient, but lacked attentiveness at times, we had to ask for water and drinks. It wasn’t bad, just a little distant.
For drinks, Sasso shines with its Negroni menu, featuring 12 different variations, plus a solid wine list with well-priced options.
As for the food, we started with some focaccia and then the burrata, which was rich and creamy, paired with crispy fried capers and a crunchy bread crumble. It was delicious, though a bit too salty, and something fresh would’ve helped balance the flavours.
The beef cheek pappardelle was the standout of the meal. Tender chunks of beef cheek in a rich, flavour packed sauce paired with perfectly cooked pasta. Hearty and satisfying, it was perfect for a cold night.
For dessert, the pistachio panzerotti was unforgettable—crispy fried pastry filled with creamy pistachio cream and served with a scoop of pistachio gelato. It was a sweet, nutty finish that was absolutely to die for.
Overall, Sasso Italiano delivers big on flavour with its wholesome pastas and pizzas. With more attentive service, it could be perfect, but it’s still a great choice for anyone craving Italian food done well"
