While some reviewers found certain dishes to be overpriced or lacking in flavor, the majority highlight the quality of the coffee and unique offerings like corn fritters as standouts. The cafe's relaxed vibe and efficient service make it a popular choice for brunch and breakfast seekers.
"Was staying at the Surf House backpackers near by (I’m not a backpacker, just needed cheap accom for Bluesfest 🤣) and came here today for brunch. Fantastic decaf coffee, beautiful flavour, and ordered the special “Cowboy Wrap” with halloumi. Wow. Perfectly seasoned, bbq sauce and salsa was perfect amount, very well balanced taste, texture was brilliant, with the crunchy hasbrown and bursts of onion from the salsa.
Sensational. Highly recommend!"

"The food looked great but lacked flavour. The breakfast bruschetta was 27$ on a single slice of thin sourdough which I thought was a bit stingy. I also experienced poor service from wait and behind bar service. One of which was quite rude whilst I was just trying to order."

"We visited Hideout Byron Bay as a group of 11 for Wednesday breakfast, and while the overall experience was pleasant, it left us with mixed feelings.
First, the service was excellent — the front-of-house staff were friendly, efficient, and quick with our orders. The food also came out in good time, which is always appreciated with a large group.
We ordered a variety of dishes including bacon, salmon, mushroom Benny, eggs on toast, coffees, and other drinks. However, when it comes to the value for money, it felt quite overpriced. For example, $30 for a single piece of bread, two slices of bacon, and two poached eggs seemed excessive, especially given the portion size.
The hollandaise sauce didn’t taste fresh and had a slightly unusual flavor, which took away from the overall dish. The poached eggs were cooked medium, which was okay, but nothing particularly special. The coffee was decent and probably the most satisfying part of the meal.
While the café has a nice vibe and great service, we felt the food didn’t quite match the high price tag. For what we paid, we expected more generous portions and a more refined taste.
Overall, a decent experience, but not the best value for a proper breakfast.
3 stars."
