Why we love it: If you need a cosy place to gather with your nearest and dearest, pick Gather. Founded by a group of close friends, this community-minded café in trendy inner-city Braddon spotlights local producers from ‘every region, in every season’, so they say. And you can taste in every bite too, in the: Tasmanian hot-smoked salmon hash brown with poached egg and ajvar (Balkan capsicum relish); brekkie quesadilla of grilled Spanish chorizo and Monterey cheese; as well as the more-so uncommon dish of salt-baked sweet potato, Tuscan cabbage and poached egg dolloped with creme fraiche and showered in pancetta, pecorino and a zesty-herb dressing.

Following these were a raft of shout outs with two recommendations including Kingston’s An Nguyen Vegan (perhaps for obvious reasons), the City’s Fish Shack (apparently their milkshakes are amazing—not the first time we’ve heard this), Braddon’s Assembly (can attest that their breakfast sides are excellent), the City’s RAKU (delicious, always), Braddon’s Gather (so many dishes can be made vegan!), the City’s Nosh (with a build-your-own-bowl, anything goes), Kingston’s Local Press (hello, breakfast cobbler!) and The Boat House, who got a special shout out for their exceptional vegan/vegetarian wedding food, so there you go!

Gather is the Canberra cafe focused on bringing healthy, nourishing whole foods to the capital. Winning multiple awards voted by the people of Canberra, you know you're in for a treat at this loved local. Try the Turkish Eggs - poached eggs with Aleppo pepper butter, dill and confit garlic yoghurt, or the Nepali chicken curry, which is even better on a cold morning.

A standout in Braddon’s flourishing cafe scene is Gather, a go-to brunch spot for many locals. Their unique menu is made to celebrate and support local farmers and produce. Whether you're an Instagram foodie, health-conscious, or a fussy eater, you are sure to find something to satisfy your cravings.

Gather is offering healthy food that centres on sustainability. With a venue that emphasises community, it’s a place to gather with friends while indulging in their brunch menu. The natural light-filled venue, with plants draping from the roof, offers a natural escape in the midst of the city.

Our food at Gather was a bit hit and miss – the stand out was the Miso Roast Mushroom Benedict. Honestly I could eat this every day!. It featured local roasted king brown mushrooms, miso, asparagus, organic poached eggs, kimchi hollandaise, nashi slaw & lotus root on ancient grain bread.

An award-winning local cafe, Gather promises food that is locally sourced where possible, sustainable and healthy. Driven by seasonal produce, try their latest and greatest creations from a seasonal granola or bircher, smashed avo, brekky quesadilla and crab scramble.

This laid-back cafe takes a wholesome, seasonal approach to cafe dining – with a few international twists along the way. House-made kombucha, good coffee and gluten-free treats from Sydney's Munja Bakehouse round out the offering.

Braddon is a hub of activity with cafes and restaurants, including Gather. It’s a hip cafe frequented by locals, staff from local businesses and public servants, and members of one of the nearby gyms.

Queanbeyan’s Thirty Four Café was named best breakfast restaurant, while Café Gather in Braddon took out the award for best café dining/patisserie.
