I kinda dig having galettes and crepe for brunch! Gather is housed in Raffles Hotel/Arcade. There is a rustic minimalistic charm to the place, very homely and welcoming. We enjoyed the 𝐎𝐟𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞 galette, which includes classic ham, gruyere, cheddar and egg. I liked how they are generous with the filling, a mouthful of everything with every bite. The strong taste of gruyere cheese adds a touch o...

Reviews Summary

Gather Cafe receives praise for its pleasant atmosphere, quality coffee, and unique dishes that highlight local produce. However, some diners have experienced issues with slow service, small portions, and perceived value for money, particularly during busy weekend periods. Despite mixed reviews on consistency, many appreciate the cafe's commitment to sustainability and community.

"Gather Café is a well-kept favourite in Braddon, tucked away on Mort Street away from the bustle of Lonsdale Street. It has a calm, relaxed vibe which makes it perfect for a peaceful brunch or coffee catch-up. The menu focuses on locally sourced, sustainable produce—and you can really taste the difference.

We ordered the Gather Smavocado, the Duck Salad, and the Crumpets with Eggs, and everything was delicious. But the surprise favourite for me was the crumpets—so simple but absolutely perfect. I think I’ve found my new favourite breakfast! Although, I think I need to go back and try the Dragonfruit Bowl to compare.

The coffee was really nice and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s always a bonus when the service matches the quality of the food.

The café itself is beautifully designed—modern and airy with lots of natural light and attention to detail in the decor. It’s a space that makes you want to linger. It has dog friendly tables outside.

The outside tables are Wheelchair accessible however I can’t attest to how accessible inside. There is car parking nearby for a fee or you can easily walk here from the city centre. It is also located close to local hotels. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in Braddon and after something a little quieter."

"August 2024
I don't understand why this place have such a high google rating. My partner and I went here for breakfast on a Saturday.

Luckily we got seated quickly despite having no bookings.

Coffee order came quickly. The coffee was good.

It took them forever to come back to get our food order. And the food took a long time to come out.

The food description sounded nice, the food looked pretty, but the serving was so small and tasteless.

We paid over $90 for breakfast for two. That included 10% weekend surcharge. What a total rip off.

Trying to be uparket, but it didn't meet the mark."

"Used to be one of my favourites but today's visit turns very disappointing. The first pic is the Quesadilla I had about one year ago, and now it is like the second pic - very thin fillings with just canned beans and corns and the dip sauces have nothing to do with salsa and sour cream as on the menu. The pineapple (p4) looks more like some sort of fungi I definitely won't eat that!
Then the add on smoked trout also does not smell nice - you can tell by its colour... 75 dollars to ruin my own Saturday. Thanks for that. Will never be there again👎"

The 19 Best Cafés In Canberra For Brunch [Updated 2025]

Why we love it: If you need a cosy place to gather with your nearest and dearest, pick Gather. Founded by a group of close friends, this community-minded café in trendy inner-city Braddon spotlights local producers from ‘every region, in every season’, so they say. And you can taste in every bite too, in the: Tasmanian hot-smoked salmon hash brown with poached egg and ajvar (Balkan capsicum relish); brekkie quesadilla of grilled Spanish chorizo and Monterey cheese; as well as the more-so uncommon dish of salt-baked sweet potato, Tuscan cabbage and poached egg dolloped with creme fraiche and showered in pancetta, pecorino and a zesty-herb dressing.
