Forget everything you know about the traditional canteen, Terra is about to flip the concept on its head. The produce-driven food destination sits right in the centre of Canberra’s CBD and is focused around breakfast and lunch only. Within its heaving plates of offerings you’ll find a range of straight-off-the-spit smoked and charcoal meats, gourmet lunch rolls, seasonal roasted vegetables, fresh salads and juices, healthy breakfast options, and Duke’s specialty coffee.

When I want a good honest feed, an impeccable wine selection and the feeling of dining at a good friend's house (but don't want to actually do any cooking) Terra is my go-to. Their takeaway hit the spot during lockdown - all the usual suspects like brisket and ribs, not to mention the best damn rotisserie chicken and chips in town. If restaurants were friends, Terra would be my BFF.

Working predominantly with flame, Terra takes BBQ up a notch. Offering a counter service menu for lunch, the ‘Terra Bench’ features an abundance of proteins and sides for you to customise your own plate to take away. This could be a piece of smoked beef brisket or rotisserie-style roast chicken with a side salad or fries.

For me, when I think of home, I can’t help but evoke images of family and friends sitting at a long table, lots of laughter and chit chat, plenty of bowls and dishes filled with fresh and delicious food and a warmth that is hard to describe in words. This is the first thing that comes to mind when I set eyes on Terra.

Despite a trend for suburban dining options, Civic is still a hot part of town with Terra, Raku and Bar Rochford all picking up a hat, as well as Rebel Rebel down the road in New Acton. Outside the city, XO in Narrabundah and Pavilion Dining at Pialligo Estate also picked up a hat each.

A casual restaurant specializing in large portions of BBQ & chicken specialties. This restaurant has delicious rotisserie chicken, crispy chips, interesting salads and great rolls. Terra's big breakfast is also really good and the pancakes filling.

With a relaxing atmosphere ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The half chicken with Terra hot sauce is highly recommended by the locals. So, now is the time to plan a trip to Canberra and sample this delectable establishment.

We went for the Valentines day set dinner and they catered for my dairy and gluten allergy. The meat was a shared plate with plenty of food for everyone.
