Reviews Summary

Nieuw Ruin is lauded for its exceptional service, unique and delicious food, and impressive wine selection, creating a truly memorable dining experience. While most reviews praise the atmosphere and attentiveness of the staff, a few diners found the menu limited and some dishes overpriced or not to their taste.

"A Truly Memorable Dining Experience

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting.
The two girls on the floor were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, making us feel welcomed and well cared for throughout the evening.
The food was absolutely divine. Every dish was beautifully presented, with flavors that were perfectly balanced and ingredients of the highest quality. Each bite was a testament to the skill and passion of the kitchen team. We had the pleasure to meet the chef!!!
The wine list was also impressive, offering a wide selection that perfectly complemented the menu.
We left with full hearts and happy stomachs. We can’t recommend this place highly enough and will definitely be returning."

Martina Massi

"Had a lovely time at Nieuw Ruin. The team were friendly and approachable, and worked with us to construct a by the glass pairing alongside their official pairing.

Food was very good and served in batches, which didn't drag out the meal. Interesting flavor profiles and good quality ingredients. My one thing that I would have changed would have been for the chips to be served hot"

T Singh

"Lovely dinner experience! One of my favourites in Fremantle. They had a special on Chardonnay so we got a bottle half price. The food was delicious and service was amazing."

23 Of Perth's Most Beautiful Spots For A Long Lunch

With its French-leaning menu, an expansive 300-bottle wine list and cool laidback atmosphere, it's all too easy to spend a coupla hours wining and dining on the verandah of this gorg little heritage cottage in Fremantle. Put your trust in chefs Blaze Young and Stephen Chen, and fill the table with shares like wagin duck parfait, handmade terrine, wagyu bresola and those iconic curried fries or go all in on one of Nieuw Ruin's signature pies (right now it's a cauliflower and cheddar number doused in French onion gravy). The four-course chef's menu with matched wines is always there if you want to keep things simple.

Brought to you from the team behind Foxtrot Unicorn, you can expect dreamy high ceilings, three tonnes of reclaimed jarrah, two charcoal grills, and more independent, small-batch booze than you can poke a stick at. The cauliflower cheese pie, encased in filo pastry and served with a rich pool of French onion gravy, is a classic, elevated by the addition of curry fries. The offerings are kept simple, like deboned, butterflied whiting or trout grilled over coals, but the execution is spot on, flesh moist, skin crisp. There’s energy in the place, too, thanks to a floor team who know their stuff and seem genuinely excited to be there.
