This fan favourite is located beachside in the Oasis Shopping Centre but we originally discovered and fell in love with them back when they were tucked away on their own a block or two north from the main cafe and shopping precinct. Although they are always busy the service and quality are excellent and Elk maintains a relaxed feel that’s perfect for a Sunday morning, or any morning really. Everything from the decor to the unique menu makes this one stand out from the crowd.

Guaranteed to draw a crowd any day craving their delicious coffee, Elk Espresso is a long-standing favourite in the Gold Coast foodie scene. Elk boasts speciality blends from Single O, but for those of you who like to spice up their morning cup of joe, keep an eye out for their regularly rotating line-up of guest roasters. A short stroll from the beach and the main Broadbeach thoroughfare, with great coffee and salty vibes to boot. They're plating up season dishes on their ever-changing menu from Black Forrest waffles to blueberry panna cotta brekky bowls that are almost too pretty to eat.

Andrew Whiting, owner of Elk Espresso at Broadbeach, is an example of the region’s new breed of entrepreneur. He established his first café, the low-key Vintage Espresso at Mermaid Beach (now with different owners), because he, his wife Jodie and their friends wanted somewhere great to eat. “I was sick of people moving to Melbourne and Sydney to experience the culture there – I thought why not create it here?.

For a more laidback scene and outstanding coffee, one of the best cafes on the Gold Coast, hands down, is Elk Espresso, overlooking the shores of stunning Broadbeach. Every dish is mouthwatering and presented with perfection, including Fried Chicken Waffle, Byron Bay Haloumi, Coconut Bread French Toast, Potato Hash, and Spring Salad. The Blueberry Panna Cotta Breaky Bowl will have you drooling for more.

Flower posies peeking out of glass jars, quirky stencil art and eclectic, mismatched furniture give Elk Espresso a hip yet homely touch. Try the breakfast salad served with poached eggs or treat yourself to brioche French toast topped with caramelised banana and vanilla mascarpone. Helpful staff and a range of gluten-free and dairy-free dishes make this cafe a top choice for diners with food allergies.

Another of my favourite brunches was had at Elk Espresso in Burleigh Heads. I opted for the bircher museli, a colourful creation topped with all sorts of wonderful (though if I could have left anything out I would have skipped the sprouts). Truthfully, however, it was the caramello koala thick shake that really stole the show (and yes, it comes with a full caramello koala in your drink. Winning!)

This café, a mere 5 km away, offers a chic atmosphere and a menu packed with EPIC offerings. It’s menu changes seasonally and there is always something drool-worthy making it impossible to choose (We can’t go past their rotation of waffles). They offer bottomless brunch, daily from 10AM with flowing Mimosas to wash down your food.

Ask any local, and they will most likely mention Elk as the best coffee shop on the Gold Coast. Its design is of industrial vintage meets coastal greenhouse interior and location next to the beach. This neighborhood coffee spot is the ideal place to read a newspaper, observe daily life, or take in the view of the surf line.

Ok, so even though this is in no particular order we’ve certainly saved one of the best until last. With its vintage style, Elk Espresso’s menu pairs sweet, savoury and everything in between oh so well. Tucked just on the outskirts of the Broadbeach precinct, this is one place you will want to re visit more than once!

It’s probably one of the Gold Coast’s best cafes, so you may have to wait for a table on weekends. Think uber-trendy industrial décor and concrete with a splash of mint green furnishings. The seasonal menus are always bursting with delicious options and they have a great selection of coffees to try.

Another one that I did not get to try is ELK Espresso (map), because I visited on a holiday and they were closed. I was sad since I had so many people recommend this place to me. Rumor has it that Orlando Bloom used to frequent this place when he was dating supermodel Miranda Kerr.

Broady gem Elk is another superb spot popping the cork on bottomless brunch daily. And bonus, it’s walk-ins only – so grab the gang, rock up from 10am and purchase any dish to partake in sixty whole minutes of mimosa action!. And nope, we sure as heck ain’t driving.
