Reviews Summary

Diners consistently praise Urban Greek for its authentic and delicious Cretan cuisine, generous portions, and excellent value. The friendly and attentive staff create a warm atmosphere, making it a top choice for various occasions. While generally highly rated, some minor points like the smokiness of certain dips or specific flavor preferences have been noted.

"Delicious! This Greek restaurant was high marks in every way - ambience, food, service, staff. We were exceptionally well-looked after by a lovely young lady (sorry but never got her name but she's around 24yrs old, has short wavy dark brown hair. Possibly Katina?) who had excellent knowledge of the menu and the wines. The dishes we ordered were served as we were ready for them, even got to have a little rest between courses, which made it a relaxing evening. Everything was seasoned well with herbs & spices and cooked to perfection. Servings were generous. We highly recommended Urban Greek as the place to go for tasty, authentic food."

"We thought it was another Mediterranean restaurant, but we were amazed by the quality of the food, taste, presentation, and portion. We tried both the sparkling wine, and they were awesome. We ordered d mixed dip, 3 flavor, Fava was my favorite followed by the dip with white fish roe. The smoky eggplant dip is a bit too smoky for my taste bud.
The Poseidon plate portion is just right cos we are already half.full with the pita bread and dips, seafood was fresh, and Chef managed to preserve the original taste. The only downside was the vinegarette octopus, I personally think it is a bit overpowered. We end our meal with dessert and expresso.
Staff were very patient and friendly. It was thus far my best Greek food experience. Recommended.!"

"After a last-minute search for somewhere to eat, we stumbled upon Urban Street Greek, and they were kind enough to accommodate us - what a lucky find!

We had the banquet and it did not disappoint. The serving sizes were very generous and the food just kept coming out. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully cooked.

The service was top-notch too. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed.

The interior was lovely — stylish, warm, and welcoming. It created the perfect atmosphere for a great night out with friends or family. Highly recommended!"

Hobart’s 5 Hottest New Restaurants

Tasmania as a whole has been sadly lacking in truly great authentic Greek food despite a lively and active local community, so we’re beyond stoked at the recent opening of Urban Greek. Ok, so some of the dishes on the authentic Cretan food menu are going to be a little difficult to pronounce for the uninitiated, but that’s fine – just mumble your way through (or just point) because the effort is SO worthwhile. You must try their vegetarian saganaki cheese with fig sauce and a mixture of Cretan grappa and honey – this dish is off the hook!
