Reviews Summary
Fable Melbourne offers a captivating rooftop dining experience with stunning city views and creative cocktails, complemented by Mediterranean-inspired share plates. While many praise the ambiance and attentive service, some diners have noted that food quality can be inconsistent and prices are on the steeper side. Mixed reviews also exist regarding the bottomless brunch experience and specific dietary accommodation issues.
"The set menu at Fable is highly recommended. The servings are very generous, from Starter to Dessert—by the time we finished our entree, we were almost full! I loved the goat’s cheese from the Starter menu; I could finish it on my own—I’m such a cheese addict! The cured Kingfish had the perfect balance of flavors—I love fish in general! Since I don’t eat chicken, the girls enjoyed the spicy adobo-glazed chicken lollipops and the oregano chicken skewers. The servings were huge! My sister was happy we didn’t have to share dessert. The brownie was delicious—not too sweet and wonderfully moist. The waitstaff was attentive, constantly refilling our water and asking us about the food they served. Very good customer service. Special thanks to Chef Michael for the sumptuous and delicious food! Definitely worth the money, and the ambiance was lovely—especially since we were on the 13th floor with a great view of the high-rise buildings. Well done Fable and team!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"Came here on a rainy afternoon.
It made the ambience actually quite moody and cosy.
I just had a snack, bread with hummus. It was good but nothing exciting. We had golden hour drinks and that was nice.
Just quite expensive for the food options here.
Service was good. Staff kept checking on us.
May come back again just not on a public holiday as we got 20% surcharged."

"We had a reservation at 8:15 pm but unfortunately arrived almost an hour late. Despite that, the team at Fable was incredibly kind—they called us around 9 pm and even requested the chef to stay back as it was a special birthday celebration. 💛
There was hardly anyone left when we arrived, but the warm welcome we received made us feel so comfortable. The bartender and all the staff were amazing—genuinely kind, attentive, and so thoughtful.
I had pre-arranged a cake and some presents to surprise the birthday girl, and the team pulled it off so beautifully. They made her feel so special, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
The place itself is warm, cozy, and full of charm. We ended up spending over an hour and a half there just soaking in the ambience and the beautiful service. 🎂🎁✨
Next time, we’ll definitely make sure to be on time so we can enjoy their food too! Thank you to the entire Fable team for making our evening so memorable."

15 Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Melbourne For Tasty Plant-Based Meals
As one of Melbourne’s tallest rooftop bars, Fable is a lovely spot for a drink with a view. It also happens to provide an extensive selection of vegetarian and vegan offerings. Dishes such as the silky fava bean dip with fluffy gluten-free focaccia and jalapeño poppers filled with dairy-free chèvre are the perfect accompaniment to the Mediterranean-inspired cocktails, most of which are also fully plant-based and prepared using Victorian spirits.
Top 6 Gluten-Free Vegan Cafes to Explore in CBD, Melbourne
No longer 100% gluten free, and can’t even cater for it adequately despite saying they can on their menu - didn’t notify us until 30 mins before our booking despite us specifying “gluten free” in our booking 5 days in advance, and couldn’t offer substitutions for their set menu (their menu now says only a couple of things aren’t gluten free, but we were told anything on the grill is no longer gluten free, so the menu is incorrect as well). To make matters worse, they take the full amount from your card for the set menu at the time of booking upfront, and then you have to wait days to get your money back if you’re not going. This place was an institution for coeliacs - if that’s why you were going, don’t bother.

Melbourne's best new (and new-look) outdoor and rooftop dining and drinking for summer
Fable calls itself Melbourne's highest rooftop bar, with views of the Arts Centre and the Bolte Bridge from its perch at the Hellenic quarter of the city. While we can't back up that claim, there's no harm in heading up 14 storeys and nabbing a plush salmon-coloured booth for the serious business of deciding what to eat and drink. Cocktails come with a full backstory and plenty of theatre, whether that's billows of steam, flames or a Trojan horse-inspired serving vessel.
