What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rice Paper Scissors is lauded for its vibrant Asian fusion cuisine and excellent service, making it a popular spot for groups and celebrations. While many rave about the flavorful share plates, cocktails, and accommodating staff, some reviews mention that the dishes can be slightly pricier. Overall, diners consistently praise the delicious food and enjoyable atmosphere.
"What a fabulous find this was!!! We didn’t book, just were looking for a nice lunch and happened to find this restaurant. We were seated outside and were served by an absolutely fantastic waiter who obviously has a love of food and he was knowledgeable about the dishes and made some great recommendations. The concept is to share five or six plates from the menu and share them for the set price. Very reasonable for the amount of food we were served and were unable to finish, unfortunately having to forgo the option of paying and additional $5 each for some delicious sounding deserts. We shared the special of the day which was tuna tartare on a lotus root. Also deep fried papaya fritters, the most AMAZING crispy rice salad dish, a superb barramundi sharing plate, mapo tofu and some green veg which was prepared with a vegan sauce. Cocktails were also wonderful. If I lived in a Melbourne I’d come here every week, it was such a wonderful experience. Thank you to the chefs and wait staff for such great memories ❤️"

"Brilliant dining experience! They now have a separate fryer so fried items can be coeliac safe! There are only 3 items on the menu that coeliacs can't have and they have gluten free bao buns (a must with the pulled lamb)! Every dish was delicious, in a great atmosphere and fantastic service (huge shout out to Marlow)!"

The best gluten-free restaurants and cafés in Melbourne
This popular casual eatery takes a modern approach to Asian street food classics, with a skew towards Thai and Vietnamese flavours. Luckily for gluten-intolerant diners, the menu has clearky marked dietaries so you can partake in a big dinner feast with friends without worrying about accidentally hurting your belly. Some of our favourite gluten-free dishes on the menu include the crispy coconut cups with caramelised Mooloolaba prawns and Yarra Valley salmon caviar, grilled banana leaf monkfish, Thai fried chicken and the succulently rich rendang beef.
