Reviews Summary

Vue de Monde is widely celebrated as an iconic fine dining destination in Melbourne, consistently praised for its impeccable service, stunning city views, and artistic presentation of modern Australian cuisine. Diners often highlight the theatricality of the experience and the memorable touches for special occasions. While the food is generally lauded, some find the extensive tasting menu lengths overwhelming, and a few suggest the value proposition might be higher at other establishments.

"Can’t believe this was my first time here! Wonderful service, with really attentive staff, even the chef team say hi! Felt like there were servers flitting around us the whole time we were there. Generous portions, you’ll definitely not leave hungry, and good wine pairings (I got the most basic one). The cheese course was wonderful! Loved the theatre, and interactions with staff and tour of the kitchen and some hands on activities.
The view is of course, wonderful, seating and atmosphere is very comfortable, and I can’t wait to come back again!"

Holly K

"One of Melbourne’s most iconic fine dining experiences!
The atmosphere was absolutely perfect — stunning city views and an elegant setting.
The plating was pure art — every dish looked like a masterpiece.

In terms of flavor, it was good, but not quite amazing enough to make me rush back for a second visit.
That said, I’m definitely curious to see what their future seasonal menus will bring!
Special mention: the desserts were outstanding and definitely worth recommending.

✅ Top-tier ambiance and service
✅ Beautiful presentation
✅ Desserts were the true highlight!"

Winnie Lei

"The 'Taste of Vue' experience last Sunday was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed six courses (we opted for the cheese as well) of exquisite food, each beautifully prepared and presented. We also opted for the paired wines which was also the perfect complement to the food. The service was impeccable with each staff member being extremely attentive, helpful and friendly, and the tour of the open kitchen to meet and speak with the chef and his team was a highlight. Every member of the team was clearly very proud of the dining experince they created at Vue de Monde - they have every right to be proud , it was an outstanding lunch Thank you!"

56 Best Restaurants In Melbourne (2025)

Best for: Luxury dining 55 floors above Melbourne CBD.Cuisine: Modern Australian. Remarkable city views that stretch out to the Dandenong Ranges are a given when you’re 55 floors above Melbourne CBD. For many years, Vue de Monde, currently on the observation deck of Rialto Towers, has been the state’s signature fine dining experience and a reliable showstopper for those wealthy and ravenous in equal measure. Backed by studious service, executive chef Hugh Allen has now moved away from the Euro-stylings of the restaurant’s formative years and pushed to redefine what “modern Australian” really means, using only the finest native ingredients and a confident splash of restraint across an impressive 18-course feast.

Melbourne’s Best Vegetarian Restaurants 2025

At Vue de Monde, vegetarian diners experience the same sky-high culinary ambition as their meat-eating counterparts—just with more truffle-dusted root vegetables and fewer Wagyu fat tears. Shannon Bennett's team transforms their $360 tasting menu into a plant-based masterpiece where "Red kangaroo & mushroom" becomes a foraged fungi symphony with black garlic soil, and even the iconic damper bread service gets a luxe vegan makeover featuring whipped macadamia cream and Davidson plum jam. Dishes like the Jerusalem artichoke tart—with its whisper-thin pastry shell and tarragon air—produce fine dining's rarest magic trick: making you overlook whether meat was ever on the menu.
