To celebrate Parramatta’s purple-fication, the PHIVE building (a new community, cultural and civic hub in Parramatta Square) was lit in purple, and a line-up of local performers joined business, government and community stakeholders at Ruse Bar & Brasserie, to celebrate Western Sydney’s diverse culture.

The food is inspired by charcoal and fire — we can’t go past the dry-aged duck breast with duck croquette, beetroot, and radicchio, paired with a Malfy gin & strawberry spritz.

I didn’t know what to expect when I first stumbled upon Ruse Bar & Brasserie. It’s big with many different sections and the service is quite slow. The food, however, is a cut above what I would have expected from Parramatta say five years ago.
