What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Union Bank is praised for its exceptional modern Australian cuisine, particularly its shared plates and the 'feed me' menu. Diners consistently highlight the outstanding service, lovely atmosphere, and extensive wine list. While most experiences are glowing, a few reviews mention minor inconsistencies in dish execution or music choice, though these are often addressed with exceptional customer care.
"Delightful restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating. Pretty good customer service, and outstanding food! Really good cocktails as well, cannot say enough good things about the drinks. The plates are definitely designed to be shared because they are relatively small, I would argue a tapas type of restaurant. Check it out!!"

"What an amazing experience! The vibe at The Union Bank Orange is absolutely fantastic, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. It's the little touches that make all the difference, and a full loaf of ciabatta is definitely one of them.
The food was incredible, with really big portions. The chocolate fondant was a highlight for me—it was so rich and perfectly gooey. And the hot honey colada? An absolute standout!
This place truly delivers on all fronts, from the food to the service and the atmosphere.
Can't wait to be back again soon!"

"From the food, to the beautiful lights outside, and the friendly staff, this is THE place to go to for your visit in Orange!!
My favorite MUST TRY dishes were the Jalapeño croquettes, potato scallops, mozzarella and fig, and the sirloin. Food was the definition of quality Australian cuisine.
My one critique would be the octopus, as it didn’t match what the photos were showing on their instagram, and it was slightly dry, but the flavors still had me salivating.
Overall a very good experience !"

Where to eat in Orange this winter, NSW at the moment: chef Richard Learmonth
For nearly four years now diners have been returning again and again to the Union Bank for flavoursome unpretentious fare consistently executed to the highest of standards. Large swathes of the menu have developed such a cult following that they can't come off, from the legendary Farmer Doug's potato scallops to my favourite steak in town, the chargrilled sirloin with miso butter sauce. However, the housemade charcuterie options provide a great chance to shake things up and sous chef Chris Tudor is a master of the craft having trained under Romeo Baudouin at Victor Churchill.

Filling a lofty former bank-turned-classroom just off Orange's main drag, this dining room has ditched the desks in favour of candlelit timber tables, and swapped the shrieks of students for the sound of ambient funk and soul. It's a suitably pared-back setting for chef Dom Aboud's modern Euro-ish dishes, most built around a single featured ingredient. Wines are drawn from the many nearby wineries, including a rotating "featured wine producer" offering an impressive back catalogue of limited vintages, with convivial staff never too far to help you decide.
