We’ve long extolled the virtues of Lathlain’s Laika as a go-to coffee and brunch spot – so when word reached us back in 2020 that they were opening a neighbouring bar slash restaurant, we were intrigued, to say the least. Our anticipation was not unwarranted: Cosy Del’s has lived up to it, and then some. We actually haven’t been able to stop thinking about the steak we had the first time we visited, imbued with smokiness from the hibachi grill and slathered in lardo butter, and our dreams are filled with the charred broccolini with ricotta and hazelnuts.

It may not technically be in Victoria Park, but just a hop, skip and jump away in Lathlain, Cosy Del’s is the kind of place where you’ll want to linger over a glass of wine and savour the northern Italian dishes that let fresh, seasonal produce shine. Start with roasted pumpkin topped with silky Parmigiano Reggiano or smoky hibachi-fired ox tongue spiedino finished with an olive crumb and smoked honey. For mains, the pappardelle with beef cheek ragu delivers pure comfort, while the pillowy spinach and ricotta gnocchi is just as satisfying.

Just down the road from the Vic Park Station (technically in Lathlain), Cosy Del’s proves that size does not matter. This intimate Italian diner may be small, but it's dishing up divine Northern Italian-inspired fare that is big on flavour. On the menu, there's ever-changing housemade pastas, refined protein plates and snacky starters that are made for sharing (but that I often end up hoarding), plus a boutique wine list with both new-world and old-world drops.
