What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cirrus Dining is lauded for its elegant ambiance and beautifully presented, fresh seafood, with standout dishes like lobster and oysters receiving high praise. While many commend the attentive service and impressive wine pairings, some diners found the portions to be small for the price, and a few noted an overly salty seafood platter or issues with beverage temperature.
"Bentley group never misses - really sad to see this one go, we visited before they closed up this Sunday and was blown away with the quality of our meal. Our favourite starters were the charcoal grilled bread with whipped butter, tempura scallops, the yuzu vinaigrette (delightfully spicy) with syd rock oysters. Our favourite main was the half chicken with kombu sauce. Deluxe crispy chicken with gravy so good I licked the plate. No shame!
Finished it all up with the roasted pineapple topped honey layered cake. We savoured each bite knowing it will be the last time we get to have these dishes (hope we’ll see these dishes again at other Bentley group restaurants)"

"Heard that it’s closing down soon, so we decided to give it a try. Booked Crablis for late lunch on Sunday, the overall food quality and quantity were barely making it to fine dining level. Except the Mud Crab dish, we can barely see crab meats in all other dishes. They charged $240/person and they even asked you to share A desert. What a shame! The restaurant definitely will not be missed."

Restaurants in Sydney
It's named after a cloud, but with its floor-to-ceiling-windows looking out on Cockle Bay, timber fencing (both on the floor and strung in different lengths from the ceiling) akin to what you might see in sand dunes, a suspended/flying vintage speedboat named Alvin, and perhaps the best and freshest seafood offerings in Sydney, Cirrus may as well be named for the sea it floats above. The five-course, degustation-style menu is very popular but the seafood platter of oysters, fat Skull Island prawns, strawberry clams, ocean bugs, and pipis (triangular clams) with seaweed mayo ponzu and red-wine vinaigrette is a must. The wine list is carefully curated and all about the white wines, with red limited to those light in body.

Cirrus champions fresh, sustainably caught seafood and fish. Vegetarians and meat-eaters will also be satisfied though, with the menu representing diverse local ingredients, from pumpkins to plump steaks. Swing by for lunch or dinner daily, with the choice of à la carte or the Cirrus tasting menu (whole-table only).
The Best Seafood Restaurants in Sydney for 2024
Brent Savage and Nick Hildebrandt — the legends behind Bentley, Monopole and Yellow — opened the doors of Cirrus Dining back in 2016, giving Barangaroo yet another brilliant seafood restaurant. The menu is made for sharing, and you can expect offerings like raw bluefin tuna with marinated trout roe and smoked sour cream on a fried bun and the epic live lobster cooked over charcoal with scallop XO sauce. On top of all that fish, you’ll find a good selection of meaty dishes and, as is always the case with the Bentley folk, no shortage of vegetarian deliciousness.
The 13 Best Seafood Restaurants In Sydney & Highlights From Each
Cirrus Dining has remained one of the best Sydney seafood restaurants in the area, despite more than a few neighbours popping up over the past few years. What was one of the first openings for Barangaroo is still held in high regard amongst the top Sydney seafood restaurants, with current menu options includes scallop and bay lobster dumplings, Western Australian marron served with salted duck egg and chili, and blue eye trevalla with cabbage, kelp, and brown butter. Our top five favourite Sydney seafood restaurants
Like the casino growing alongside, Brent Savage and Nick Hildebrandt's airy Barangaroo restaurant invites high-roller-style splurges: on caviar, lobster, shucked-to-order oysters, the celebrated seafood platter, and $200-a-kilo mud crabs. Rewards are rich in entrees like charry twice-cooked Fremantle octopus on piquant salsa verde, or grilled prawns drizzled with lush koji butter sauce. Anything from the charcoal grill is a safe bet, while crumbed flathead with chips is a menu fixture.
Sydney's best gluten-free friendly restaurants
