What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise Oncore for its breathtaking views, exceptional service, and Michelin-quality food, describing it as a truly unforgettable experience. While the tasting menu and wine pairings are highlights, a few reviews mention dishes being too salty or the wine pairing needing refinement. The overall sentiment is that it's a top-tier dining destination, ideal for special occasions.
"I celebrated my birthday at Oncore by Clare Smyth last March, and it was nothing short of unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, every detail was executed with precision, elegance, and genuine warmth. The staff made me feel truly celebrated — not just like another guest, but like the experience was personally crafted for me.
The menu was a journey of textures, memory, and creativity. Each dish felt like a tribute to the season and to place — refined but never fussy, and full of emotion. Standouts included [insert your favorite dishes if you want], and the wine pairings were thoughtful and surprising in all the right ways.
Dining at Oncore was more than a meal — it was an experience that lingered with me well after we left. I can’t think of a more perfect place to mark a special occasion. Grateful for a birthday I’ll always remember."

"I came to Oncore for one specific reason, to declare a clear winner between Quay and Oncore as both restaurants are on the same level. It became apparent very quickly, that I could not as both are very different experiences in my eyes. The tasting menu at Oncore is as one would expect from a restaurant of this calibre - Amazing! Each dish was very well presented, like a work of art, cooked to perfection and extremely tasty and there was lots of it, you will not leave hungry.
The restaurant itself is not big and offers an intimate experience, from being greeted at the front desk, to being introduced to the chefs as you walk past the kitchen to your luxuriously appointed table followed by a lovely champagne service . Ladies, yes your bag will get it own seat at the table. Service comes with a side of English wit and charm, whilst retaining the utmost professionalism and expert knowledge on the food being served and the Core brand itself. The wine list is also extensive and the Sommelier's knowledge and recommendations are second to none.
In conclusion, if fine dining is your thing, you have to eat at Oncore. And......you still have to eat at Quay because as I mentioned earlier, there is no clear winner, both restaurants compliment each other in the Sydney fine dining scene."

"We came here for Valentine's prix fix lunch last year. Everything is impeccable: service from "soup to nuts" is top notch and professional, the view from level 26 at Crown Sydney is amazing, and most of all the food... it's perfect. Every single course is nicely plated and it's a work of art, and the entire meal is well paced, not rushed at all, and tied together in a perfect harmony. Even the sourdough bread is one of the best we've ever had. Yes, it's quite pricey, but it is so worth it. Clare Smyth's Core restaurant in London garnered 3 Michelin stars. Had Australia expanded the Michelin Guide coverage to restaurants, there was no doubt Oncore would be the recipient of the coveted 3 stars as well."
