Renovated in early 2014 by Pip and Andrew Goldsmith, the power team who brought us The Boathouse in Palm Beach and the Armchair Collective in Mona Vale, the Boathouse is a glorious improvement on the modest cafe it once was. It’s hard to look past the seafood when you’re sitting outside in the sunshine on a deck suspended over the ocean. For breakfast and brunch, we recommend you add smoked salmon to the pea fritter served with sprout salad, avocado and a couple of perfectly poached eggs.

The Boathouse group sure knows how to nail a great seaside venue. A huge part of that comes down to the coastal-inspired menu, which would be remiss without a stellar fish and chips (beer-battered flathead, in this case). Add rosé and you’ve got a little sea change on your hands.

My wife and I had the fish and chips we were really impressed with the batter which was completely gluten free. I wish also the salt and pepper squid was also gluten free the waitress did go back and check that there was no risk of contamination .

Boathouse Balmoral: Whilst it doesn’t have a playground and we wouldn’t call it cheap, Boathouse Balmoral takes the cake for location and delicious food!. After a swim, kids can order half portions of all the scrumptious options on the menu.
