Reviews Summary

Diners praise Altsteirische Schmankerlstub'n for its authentic Austrian cuisine, particularly the schnitzel and salads made with local pumpkinseed oil. The rustic, traditional atmosphere and charming courtyard are often highlighted as positives. However, some guests have experienced slow service, with one reviewer reporting being completely ignored.

"We have yet to try one of Austria's dessert Kaiserschmarrn and when we asked for this, the waitress was very kind to take our order which is not in the menu. We quite like it. Tasted like some buttery pancake that pairs well with whipped cream and berries jam. She also recommended the Spätzle which we find it pretty tasty coz of the burnt cheese that makes it awesome 😋 Nice roast pork and Schnitzel! Friendly staff ✅️"

"While researching places to eat in Graz, this restaurant caught my attention. And I said "why not?" This was one of the best decisions and a highlight of our trip to Graz.

The place is rustic, filled to the brim with that Austrian autentic charm. What's even best is that you get the full experience, as many locals are coming here to eat. The menu has a lot to offer: I do recommend the wiener schnitzel as it was very tasty and in plenty of quantity. We also tried some soups and we're also divine. Big props to everyone there.

I also have to give a massive shout-out to our waiter, as there was only one guy serving all the tables. A few times, a lady from the kitchen was helping him, but the service overall was very quick. He was striving to get every order quick and also making sure the guests are having a good time. And we had the best time."

"The restaurant has seating that stretches through the whole alley, so plenty of seating. It had a wonderful menu, an amazing selection. We got our drinks and mains super quickly, and it was so delicious. I was soooo full, but couldn’t not eat my last bite.

The dessert took a long time to get delivered. But it was good."

A good choice to experience authentic Styrian cooking, this old Graz institution is reminiscent of a cozy country cottage. Salads are a must here, prepared with the Styrian specialty, Kürbiskernöl, or pumpkinseed oil. Main courses include Rinderschulterscherzl, boiled beef with pumpkin puree and roasted potatoes, or chicken breast in a creamy herb sauce.
