Restaurant Seegrube

Simply put, this restaurant in the Seegrube cableway station is one of the best dinners with a view in the country. At 6,500 feet high, the view of the city lights twinkling below makes a wonderful background for a romantic dinner. The food itself is mostly Tyrolean specialties including gröstl, a bacon, onion, and potato fry-up topped with a fried egg.

While not a rooftop, a position of 1 905 meters above sea level means that Cloud 9 and Restaurant Seegrube offers some of the most amazing and unique views over Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains. Found next to the stop of the Nordkette Seegrubenbahn, Cloud 9 is a natural and charming sun terrace, open during the winter months. Restaurant Seegrube is open all year round, offering traditional Tyrolean cuisine in a cozy ambience, from breakfast to early dinner.

On the rooftops of Innsbruck, the Seegrube Restaurant is set at an altitude of 1905 m (6,250 ft) above sea level. The restaurant is open all year and welcomes anyone who enjoys Tyrolean food as well as spectacular views of Innsbruck, particularly during sunset. There are two well-appointed function halls, making this the greatest spot in the vicinity to host birthday parties, weddings, meetings, and other events.

While the Old Town is a great place to enjoy lunch, I’d personally suggest heading up the mountains to eat instead. From the Golden Roof, you can easily and quickly walk to the Innsbruck Station Congress, where the funicular-like inclined railway will take you to the first Hungerburgbahn station. From here, ride up to the Nordkette Mountain Range, arguably the best place to visit in Innsbruck.

Seegrube – Hafelekar The final stage is another cable car ride from Seegrube to Hafelekar, the peak of the Nordkette mountain range, at an altitude of 2,300 meters. This leg boasts the most dramatic views and takes about 4 minutes. It was very icy as we worked our way to the top (Well, as close as Ben would brave) Super cool!

Seegrube Restaurant serves snacks and a great range of hot beverages. It’s arguably the best place to dine around here and serves authentic Tyrol cuisine and local drinks. This is also the best place in this region to organise birthday parties/ weddings/ meetings etc. as there are two well-appointed spaces for functions.

Well two ways if you really want to work up your appetite and hike!. The Nordkettenbahnen cable car takes you to the highest restaurant in Innsbruck in just 20 minutes. Located 2000 metres above the city enjoy some Austrian favourites with a side of amazing panoramic views.

For a meal with an incredible view, head to The Seegrube Restaurant, Innsbruck’s highest chill-out spot. Perched 1,900 meters above sea level at the Seegrube station of the Nordkettenbahn, this alpine restaurant offers spectacular panoramas and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Hop on the cable car in the Old Town and alight at Seegrube station, where the panoramic Seegrube Restaurant awaits. The menu is filled with Tirolean classics like cheese or bacon dumplings and, of course, the iconic Austrian Schnitzel.

We then headed for lunch at the Seegrube Restaurant, where I opted for Spinatknödel (cheese dumplings) served in a hearty beef broth—a traditional Austrian dish that was as warming as it was delicious.
