Reviews Summary

Sitzwohl is praised for its innovative fusion of Austrian and Asian flavors, exceptional service, and cozy atmosphere. While many highlight the creative dishes and knowledgeable staff, some guests have noted inconsistencies with bread presentation or service attentiveness. Overall, it's considered a top dining destination in Innsbruck for those seeking a unique gastronomic experience.

"My wife and I had a delightful meal on their outdoor patio. It was traditional Austrian I inspired ingredients with an international sensibility. Very Asian influenced, lots of umami. Five stars for creativity.
The carpaccio and kohlrabi/black truffle soup were outstanding. Subtle flavors and creatively plated (with baby shishu leaves). The portobello mushroom was a vegetarian reinterpretation of traditional Wiener schnitzel with a delicious spinach/egg salad base. Our waiter was knowledgeable about local Austrian Riesling and made a great recommendation. Afterwards, he brought us another different vintner to compare.
We had a lovely evening and would go back again. The four stars for atmosphere wasn't the restaurant's fault...at eight p.m.. the construction team arrived and started to jackhammer the sidewalk across the square."

"We visited Innsbruck same time last year, it was a weekend excursion from Munich, we were a little disappointed as Sitzwohl closed for weekends (both Sat & Sun). This year, extra effort been made to reach Innsbruck on Friday evening, and advanced booking been made ahead.
Long story short, this is a great restaurant which score with flying color for all 3 attributes. If I were to add one more dimension, I would praise highly on the presentation of the each dish served… full of creativity & aesthetics.. Kudos to the Chef who really care for finite details.
The white asparagus soup served was the first positive impression, followed by the pleasant surprise was the Tuna Pizza, the Tuna was freshly sliced in Sashimi form, layered with pickle ginger & Mayonnaise Wasabi stacked above a approx 3-4 inches Pizza bread… my immediate impression was that it was Japanese Washoku Fusion, for once I thought we were in a Japanese restaurant, another Japanese Fusion element was the tender Black Angus steak which top with the sauce which seemingly cheated my taste buds as a Wafu sauce (Yaki Niku sauce). The restaurant Manager Russel presented a highest level of hospitality, in my opinion. We promised Russel that we will come again for sure!!"

"Top notch restaurant would put it in 1 star Michelin range. The full tasting menu is the way to go. Great wine list at a decent prices. People have been “complaining” about price but I think it’s perfectly priced for the quality, portion and service. Each dish was balanced thoughtful and served well. I had an awesome staff member from Sardinia, he was great! 6 stars!"

Innsbruck restaurants

When I need a change from dumplings and noodles, I book in to this restaurant named after its chef/owner, Irmgard Sitzwohl. The look is contemporary; menus feature fresh, organic produce; and the clean flavours show Mediterranean influences. Not that dishes are simple: organic pike fillets might be pan-fried and served with a creamy wild garlic risotto; strudel comes as a main course, stuffed with bacon and potato and sauced with a chive dip.

Restaurant Sitzwohl might be the best in town, run by two hatted, female chefs, where mushroom dumplings rival black gnocchi in the taste stakes. I also love the old-world appeal of wood-panelled Ottoburg, which makes me feel as if I’m dining inside a cuckoo clock. It provides a mean Tafelspitz – Austrian boiled beef flavoured with onion, celery root, juniper berries and spices – followed by warm apple strudel.
