Maiskogel Alm Ranch

Dank der neuen Verbindung vom Maiskogel zum Kitzsteinhorn ist das Skigebiet noch attraktiver geworden!. Und Apresski geht auch ganz gut ab (nicht wie in Ischgl und Co., aber lustig ist es dennoch. Mir gefällt Kaprun wegen der vielen Möglichkeiten. Mega schneesicher am Gletscher, familiär und gemütlich am Maiskogel, abwechslungsreich und auch anspruchsvoll in Zell am See. Zur Areitbahn in Schüttdorf sind es 15 Minuten mit dem Bus und mittlerweile ist auch die Verbindung zum riesigen Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm (mit Leogang und Fieberbrunn) schon super.

The smaller area and more alpine in style is Maiskogel which offers 20km of pistes, it's far from snow-sure at 1570m but from the 2019 season will be linked to Kitzsteinhorn, meaning you'll no longer need to take the ski bus from Kaprun to get to the glacier. The final area right in the centre of Kaprun is Lechnerberg, with 2 drag lifts it's a good place to learn to turn but nothing more.

However, if you are tired of hiking, there is the option to descend using the trail opposite the mountain hut towards the "Maiskogel alm" (also called "Heli's Hut") and take the hiking taxi down. It will bring you back to the bottom of the Maiskogel mountain at the edge of the center of Kaprun. The hike from the Glocknerblick hut to the Maiskogel alm will take about 15 minutes.

From 2 becomes 1: With the new K-onnection Maiskogel and Kitzsteinhorn are connected from season 2019/2020. More than 70 continuous kilometres of pistes await winter sports enthusiasts on the two mountains. While beginners feel particularly at home on the many blue pistes at Maiskogel, experts get their money's worth on the steeper glacier pistes.

On 2,450 meters, the KIDS-steinhorn adventure playground awaits little ones, and the access point to the first of three challenging freeride trails that lead all the way down to the Maiskogel experienced downhill riders. Wooden water toys motivate kids to play with pure mountain water at the Water Playground Langwied.

Tourists and bikers are enchanted by Kitzsteinhorn, Schmittenhöhe or Maiskogel. It is possible to carry out water sports on Zeller See, a crystal clear lake. Except this visitors can try paragkliding or kiting in Zell am See-Kaprun both with a view on three thousand meters high peaks of the Hohe Tauern.

The Alpine Coaster - more a roller-coaster than a toboggan run - is located on the slopes of the Maiskogel in Kaprun. Start and finish of the run is the Schaufelberg car park. The Kaprun Family & Leisure Park can also be found there.

For those who love a bit of uphill cycling, the Maiskogel is where it’s at. Freestylers and all-round trick merchants, meanwhile, should check out the rad bike park in Kaprun.

Die Maiskogel Alm Ranch ist eine gemütliche Einkehr mit familiärer Atmosphäre. Eine Spezialität des Hauses: es wird gegrillt. Der Streichelzoo ist ein weiteres Highlight.

Hiking on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, in the Hohe Tauern National Park or on the Schmittenhöhe and Maiskogel mountains above the TAUERN SPA is an unforgettable experience.

The Maiskogel Alm Ranch is a cosy restaurant with an informal atmosphere. Its speciality is barbecued food. The petting zoo is another highlight.
